Out of Sight with Galants - An Interview

***** Interview with Galants *****

Q. When did Galants start? tell us about the history...
1.Autumn 2013. I had recently moved to Dublin from London and was bored with playing acoustic guitar and wanted to make some noise solely for fun. It developed slowly enough from there until James McDonald (formerly of Belfast band Yakuza – http://yakuza.bandcamp.com) came on board at the start of the year and gave the band a bit of a much needed kick start.

Q: Who are your influences?
2.Teenage Fanclub.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
3.Teenage Fanclub - A Catholic Education;
Teenage Fanclub – Bandwagonesque;
Teenage Fanclub – Grand Prix.
Teenage Fanclub – Songs from Northern Britain.
Teenage Fanclub – Howdy.

Q. How do you feel playing live?
4.We don’t play that often so when we do, I tend to get fairly nervous and forget all the words and chords. It tends to be a bit of a blur most of the time. I can't speak for the others.

Q. How do you describe Galants sounds?
5.A distortion and melody sandwich.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
6.We usually record live, see what it sounds like, carry on regardless and then overdub guitars until it sounds messed up.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
7.Cheatahs, Squarehead, Ginnels.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
8.'You Suffer' by Napalm Death.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
9.To have a smart laugh. That's the main thing
.
Q: Any parting words?
10.Are you looking at my bra?
