Celia´s Dream with Intenna - An Interview

***** Interview with Intenna *****

Q. When did Intenna started, tell us about the history...
A: Hi there.. Intenna started 5 years ago, in November 2009, when two dropped out college student shares their common favorite and their experiences in music. At that time, Antok and Obing were still a member in two different hiatus group, Result Unknown and Eboni & Ivory. The hiatus of their groups make them start over new again, as one group. Obing and Henry also has a plan to formed a band, then Obing introduce Antok to Henry. Antok ask Pugud to play bass before they decide looking for a female vocalist. Oming is the latest member who joined Intenna in a couple weeks after. Henry was the one who offered her to fill vocal sound on this band. Little Miss Sunshine and Dansa Hujan then became our two first songs on that year.

Q: Who are your influences?
A: Each of us has our own influences. As a shoegaze musician, you can obviously mention My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, or even M83. But there’s also other influences. Not just on artistic dimension, but also on ideology and attitude on stage. So we have a variant list. Not only a musician, but also a writer, visual artist, activist, dancer, even books. Our friends, our family, they are always our inflluences. And we sure, we are influencing each other.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
A: Efek Rumah Kaca (self titled),
M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us,
Sonic Youth – Washing Machine,
Radiohead – Amnesiac ,
The milo- Let me begins

Q. How do you feel playing live?
A: Live performance on stage brings a lot of challenges to us as a band. We have to deal with nervous, technical issues, and audience. But we love it.

Q. How do you describe Intenna´s sounds?
A: On the first, especially on Little Miss Sunshine and Dansa Hujan, we sounds like a child who love to share her/his stories. But later on, it change. Now, we sounds like a child who shout out her/his concern innocently. We always love layered guitar sounds, spacey and dreamy modulated reverbs, sometimes we add harsh fuzzy noises with steady beat of 90’s alternative music.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
We rent a studio we'd love, make an appointment with the engineer and then we start to record, sometimes after some rehearsal. We're not hiring a producer, we just want to create music on our own.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended
A: Theory of Discoustic, Sharesprings, Marche La Void and Senyawa they all from Indonesia.

Q: Which bands would you love to make a cover version of?
A: Rumah Sakit and Slowdive

Q: What´s the plan for the future....
A: We really want to go overseas. Such as Japan. Maybe next year or two years later. Our short-term plan is release our first album on 2015 and have a Java Promo Tour. Eight songs have been recorded recently for it. We need three more to complete it. Hopefully we can finish it on time.

Q: Any parting words?
A: Alon-Alon asal Kelakon (Slowly but surely) this is the paraphrase in our culture that we always do it in slowly but the intense on doing it. we hope that we can always do what ever we like to do... and once again thanks for listening intenna music
