Una Tormenta de Canciones de Amor a Quemarropa with Los Marcianos - An Interview


Novamente os espanhóis aterrizam nas páginas do TBTCI, desta vez representados pelos Los Marcianos e seu grudento indie rock, com cheiros noventistas, pitadas de class of 86, algo como se os caras representassem o que o The Pains of Being Pure at Heart fazer pelos USA.

Música melódica, grudenta, cantarolável, sonhadora e para sair pulando, é isso que os caras apresentam em seu mais novo disco "Una Tormenta de Canciones de Amor a Quemarropa", título mais auto explicativo do que este impossível.

Q. When did Los Marcianos start? Tell us about the history
I. The story begins in 2006, We spent several years recording demos and playing in our city. In 2010 we released our first album "Esto Va En Serio". In 2013 we released a digital single "Segundas Partes" and the last year we begin to work with the spanish producer Carlos Hernández (Los Planetas, Triángulo De Amor Bizarro...) and recorded and released "Una tormenta de canciones de amor a quemarropa" (Clifford Records, 2016).

Q: Who are your influences?
I. The Wedding Present, Jesus And Mary Chain, Oasis, Dinosaur Jr, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Yo La Tengo, Ride... and spanish bands like Los Planetas, Los Secretos, Mamá, Family, La Buena Vida, Hombres G, Aerolíneas Federales, Los Nikis...

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
It's a very dificult question but there you have it.

4. Dinosaur Jr - Bug
5. Jesus And Mary Chain - Munki

Q. How do you feel playing live?
I. Play live is very important for us. We like play our new album and this year we are going to make a tour around Spain.

Q. How do you describe Los Marcianos sounds?
I. It's a little difficult to define it. Noise Pop, Power Pop, Shoegaze, Brit Pop. It's basically a mixture of noise and melody and we place great importance to the lirycs.


Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
We recorded the album in a week. We come it in the Litium Studios (Pontevedra, Spain) with the producer Carlos Hernández and shaping the songs. It was a experience fun.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
I. From Spain I recommend you Basanta, When Nalda Became Punk, Paracetamol, Rafael Berrio, Linda Guilala, Galaxina, Lúa Gramer, Bifannah, Axolotes Mexicanos...

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
I. A lot of bands, for example, we make a great cover of "Girlfriend in a coma" by The Smiths, we make it in spanish and it's name is "Mi novia está en coma". Nevertheless, we don't make many covers of other bands.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
I. We are going to make a tour around Spain this year and we are writting new songs to the next album. We look forward to play and play.
