Where I End And You Begin with She Drew The Gun - An Interview

She Drew The Gun sugere.

Uma doce e suingada trip psicodélica.

Bom gosto, sofisticação e elegância nunca estiveram tão bem representandos.

***** Interview with She Drew The Gun *****

Q. When did She Drew The Gun start? Tell us about the history…
Louisa started it all off with a handful of songs, playing, busking and recording under the name ‘She Drew The Gun’ she sent some recordings in to the local BBC introducing, who invited her in to do a live session. A friend of James Skelly (The Coral) was listening and passed on some recordings to him, he invited her to his for a brew and to play him some tunes, he really liked them so we began working together at his label Skeleton Key Records on what will be our debut album. The band has grown and shape-shifted along the way, we’ve played lots of gigs around Liverpool in various live set ups, we’ve toured the UK supporting The Sundowners, and recently been on a month long European tour supporting Fink.

Q: Who are your influences?
So many influences, there’s a lot of perfect albums out there, we love, Leonard Cohen, The Cure, The Cribs, Crass, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline…that’s just a few of the the C’s.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
The Beatles - The White Album
Travelling Wilburys- Vol 1
The Las - The Las
Radiohead - The Bends
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Love it, putting everything out there and seeing the reaction, the exchange with you and the audience, you really feed off each other, coming off stage after a great gig is the best feeling. We’re massively lucky to have just been on a month long tour around Europe supporting Fink, playing proper stunning venues and audiences, best experience ever.

Q. How do you describe She Drew The Gun sounds?
its a kind of lyrical dreamy, psych-pop music I think Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ? Its been a bit of a dream recording our debut album with James Skelly (The Coral). We started off with just the bare bones of the songs, the first thing we’d put down was my guitar and vocals and work from there, we’d mess about with the guitar sounds until we got something interesting and then add layers, then finally get Sian to put the drums down last.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
I loved the Holy Holy album that was one of my favourites last year, apart from that there’s good things happening at our label Skeleton Key Records, I’d say keep a look out for what comes out next.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We’ve been working on a cover of a Sugar Babes song but with Jefferson Airplane kinda vibes, sounds strange I know, we like the weirdness of it.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Well this year we’ll release our first record so its all going to be about getting that out and playing it live, hopefully more touring and always more writing, its hard to plan further than that.

Q: Any parting words ....
Keep a look out for our tour in April ; )
