Cultivations with Au.Ra - An Interview

***** Interview with Au.Ra *****

Q. When did Au.Ra start? Tell us about the history...
We met in 2011 At a college in Sydney . Both of us showed up to the wrong classroom. My pursuit of a tertiary education didn't last as long as Tim's but our friendship did, as did our mutual enjoyment of writing songs together.

Q: Who are your influences?
We are influenced by new and different things everyday. The list is endless.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
5 albums that mean a lot to me personally and seem relevant to Au.Ra -

Depeche Mode - violator
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
My Bloody Valentine - isn't anything
Cocteau Twins - treasure
Lee Hazelwood & Nancy Sinatra - Lee and Nancy

Q. How do you feel playing live?
I feel comfortable playing live.

Q. How do you describe Au.Ra sounds?
I'd describe our sound as 'perfect'.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
A friend of ours was the head engineer at a commercial studio in Sydney. He hooks us up when there is down time so he took care of the recording part, we just focused on playing and writing the music.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Sextile are great as is Wesley Gonzales. Orion are a band from Sydney which I like. I can't really think of any more new bands at this moment.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
I'd have to say covering the Beatles or lee hazelwood would be the most rewarding for me.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
We will be releasing a new record in June. We plan on performing it for who ever offers us the most money.
