Cold Summer with Future Panther - An Interview

***** Interview with Future Panther *****

Q. When did Future Panther begin? Tell us about the history...
Future panther, started in 2016, when I had to travel to Canada, from my native country, I spent a lot of time alone in my apartment creating songs on my own locked in and inspired by the winter, then I began to record the songs more seriously until I realized that I could get an EP. Mainly I didn't think about having commercial music or music for a certain audience I just created the music for me and for my cat.

Q: Who are your influences?
Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, She past Away, Have A Nice Life, and some of my favorite bands DIIV, Beach Fossils, Soft Kill, The Soft Moon, Black Marble, Wild Nothing, Sleep Party People, Supernova1006, Whirr and lately I have an obsession with Drab Majesty, I must say that it's one of my greatest influences right now. so I think soon my sound will go more for those kinda sounds of darkwave, new wave, and shoegaze…

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
DIIV -Oshin
Drab Majesty -The Demonstration
Black Marble - It's Immaterial
The Soft Moon - Deeper
Beach Fossils -Clash The Truth

Q. How do you feel playing live?
So far I haven't had any show with Future Panther, but I would love to create a performance with panther masks to give more impact to the live show and at the same time be something more artistic. ( the full live show) But they are future plans, for now I want to continue recording songs and experimenting with my sounds.

Q. How do you describe Future Panther´s sounds?
I would say that the sound I wanted to create was something deep, dark and at the same time nostalgic, full of guitars with reverb, flanger sometimes phaser and delays, drums sequenced with the use of the claps to give that sound of the 80's, and voices a little more alternative but with a lot of reverb playing with the melodies of the guitars

Q: Tell us about the process of recording  the songs ?
Everything starts by creating a melody on the bass, then a drum sequence and then start jamming looking for sounds that I like. Sometimes I start with some guitar melody that I had in my head, basically I let myself be carried away by my musical instinct.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
I would recommend some bands from my native country like: Ser Sonico, Sobrevolar, Encarta 98, Cold Tropics, and bands that I recently discovered like: Soft Touch and Posh Lost.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
The Soft Moon - Far

Q: What are your plans for the future?
I want to lock myself a season again this winter to continue finding my ideal sound, keep recording songs and why not create a full album. After this I would love to find some live shows.

Q: Any parting words?
I want to thank Renato and the blog that celebrates itself for the space to share my music, and for his great work supporting new artists, this is the only way to grow and evolve musically together. I also invite you to visit my fan page on Facebook called LA420 is an independent label that supports emerging local artists.
