Taste of Cindy with Dear Tracks - An Interview

***** Interview with Dear Tracks *****

Q. When did Dear Tracks started, tell us about the history...
Through the month of July of last year, I was working on a new song, I had just came out with an LP for another project & wanted to make something more in my vein. I crafted a demo of a beachy pop + simple reverb driven tune which soon became "Connectivity". I tracked each instrument at a friends basement (James Allen / JADE TV). He recorded me through his 2-channel interface to capture all the pieces I have written for the tune. After having it demoed, I made it as the key foundation to a very care free yet delicate solo project. Our first show was with Literature in Grand Rapids, others including playing at the 14th year of a shoegaze fest in Kalamazoo called KALAMASHOEGAZER. Every show with this project has been shared with different members until recently assembling a group of close & trusted friends to play with me to make the formation into a "band" Through this came along my girlfriend, Victoria Ovenden to partner up & play synth / keyboard to keep it's dreamy noise parallel from its early foundation. Which Victoria has truly been a part since it's beginning.

Q: Who are your influences?
Devon Williams, Jesus And The Mary Chain, Catwalk (Nic Hessler), Fleetwood Mac, Daniel Johnston, Miles Davis. Ducktails, Shit Father, Blondie, Jeremy Jay, Slowdive, Kurt Cobain, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Diiv, The Beatles.New Order, Lou Reed, Alex Calder, Blouse, The Lemonheads, Sonic Youth, The Raveonettes, Craft Spells...

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…

Psychocandy by The Jesus And The Mary Chain

Self Titled + Pipe Dreams, by Fingerscut Megamachine
Nevermind by Nirvana

Q. How do you feel playing live?
All those thoughts racing in your mind vanish / getting lost deep into the live noise. It feels free & euphoric. And staying connected to the inner & outer world.

Q. How do you describe Dear Tracks sounds?
modulation reverb + heavy chorus + delay + sustain. simple pop noise with a post punk structuring. Indie pop that's riding on rays to the sun

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
All the Dear Tracks songs have been recorded by me (Matt Messore). I usually track the drums first, then keyboards, bass + guitars. I don't have professional recording equipment so the stuff I've done so far have been decent lo-fi quality. I feel the music material is what I care about most. The recent recording for Dear Tracks song "Alive" was done on Audacity & a computer mic, & it came out really cool. (It's available on a compilation tape for a new record label based out of Virginia called Citrus City Records). I usually prefer recording my songs myself, since I know what i want the sound to be, but I had another engineer record.Dear Tracks first EP release - Wildflower. For future recordings I'm hoping I could keep recording through myself & have enhanced quality so everything heard. .

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Orchid Mantis
Gingerlys
Suburban Living

Q: Which bands would you love to make a cover version of?
Really not sure on this one, never really thought of this

Q: What´s the plan for the future....
Play more shows, connect with like-minded people we haven't met yet, touringggggg where we can & when we can! Write more songs and work on an LP

Q: Any parting words?
xoxo
