Shame Spiral with Youngest of Elders - An Interview

Jesse Gale é a mente por trás do Youngest of Elders.

***** Interview with Youngest of Elders *****

Q. When did Youngest of Elders start? Tell us about the history...
We started in 2014 as a solo project, and after playing a bunch of shows and touring, the band is now myself and Bernt Strom.

Q: Who are your influences?
Cursive, Pedro the Lion, The Appleseed Cast, My Bloody Valentine, Sunny Day Real Estate.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures"
Pink Floyd "The Wall"
Cursive "Domestica"
Ambulance LTD "LP"
Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin II"

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Playing live is the best outlet to have and the cheapest form of therapy for me.

Q. How do you describe Youngest of Elders sounds?
We grew up in the 90's, so we try to pay tribute to the bands we grew up listening to for nostalgia's sake.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
I'll bring an idea to Bernt, and he'll sit down and help write guitar and bass parts with me, then figure out drums. We then go to the amazing Nic Gracia and Rob Marshall that work at The Canvas Group and do all of our tracking there. Then, we send it off to Duane M. Ramos in Los Angeles for mixing and mastering, although the songs we're working on are being mastered by Giovanni Versari (worked on Muse's Grammy winning "Drones" album).

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
BullyWest, Overland, Mourning Mountains, Mall Walk, King Woman, Well Secluded.

Q: Which band would you love to make a cover version of?
Nine Inch Nails "The Perfect Drug"

Q: What are your plans for the future?
We're recording until the end of 2016 and plan on putting out an album in 2017.
