Reconstruction of the Fables with Slowness - An Interview

For Those Who Wish To See The Glass Half Full, simplesmente soberbo.

***** Interview with Slowness *****

Q. How do you describe Slowness sounds?
A: It's a little hard for me to describe the sounds. I'm a bit too close to it all, and inside of it, to describe it well. But I suppose that our favorite influences come out in the music. We were all obsessed with early REM, the Smiths, and the Cure when we were coming of age, and a little later with bands like Stereolab, Cocteau Twins and Ride, so I think there's no way that those bands don't come through subconsciously when we're making a record. We don't try to sound like any of them. It just happens that way because it's in our blood.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording For Those Who Wish to See the Glass Half Full?
A: We started basic tracking about two years ago. After a few months, we realized it wasn't working so well, so we went back to the drawing board and re-recorded most of the songs from scratch. A lot of our songs change from the time they are conceived until the time they are born. We do a lot of rewriting, editing and re-recording. We drive Monte, our producer, a little nuts with our process, so we ended up taking the sessions and some microphones up to Julie's apartment to do last minute changes in her hallway. So about five percent of the record was done at home. But the rest was done with Monte at Ruminator Audio in San Francisco.

Q: About the song lyrics, what´s the influences behind them?
A: They are a bit personal, but not completely autobiographical. I suppose the themes surround depression (both personal and social), self-preservation, protection, contrition, digital addiction, greed and... well... trying to see the glass half full.

Q: What´s the plans for the future?
A: We're planning a European tour that will start in June. We like to change up our live act, and don't always like to play as a loud rock band, so we're considering doing pared down shows with only a guitar and an accordion. The songs actually translate pretty well that way. We'd like to play in small, quiet venues with no microphones, or in galleries, or in underground speakeasies that ban cell phones, or in caves or living rooms.

Q: Any parting words?
A: We're looking forward to coming to Brazil. We'll try to bring the whole band with us for that one.

Smile At The End by Robsongs - Resenha de Vagner Sousa

Primeiro registro do selo estreante THE BLOG THAT CELEBRATES ITSELF (assuntos universais para as proximas resenhas).

Eu simplesmente voltei a escrever graças a essas canções.

Boa noite amigos.

Spread Your Love with Oscar Suave - An Interview

***** Interview with Oscar Suave *****

Q. When did Oscar Suave starts, tell us about the history...
Ollie started The band in it's infancy in early 2011, although Ollie is the only surviving member! I joined in around September and we've taken it on from there. I've loved every minute and made some friends for life.

Q: Who are your influences?
Where do I begin?! I think you're influenced by most things - not just then bands you listen to. All sorts of things have affected me to write music; love, loss, insecurities, arguements, lies, politics, religion, drugs, drink, rejection, acceptance, everything! When I was growing up I listened to a lot of The Stones, Led Zep, The Kinks, Hendrix, Oasis, Beatles, Nirvana - the usual bands that kids get into. Then as I got older I explored a bit deeper and discovered amazing acts such as Link Wray and Love. But for bands that have influenced the specific sound of OS then you'd have to talk about Spacemen 3, Spirtiualized, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dandy Warhols, The Warlocks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Cooper Temple Clause and The Velvet Underground. But there's so many more!

Q. Make a list of 5 favorite albums of all time…
Fuck me that's not an easy question! I'm too fickle to have a fixed list! Maybe something like this...

Let It Bleed - Stones
BRMC - BRMC
The Doors - The Doors
The Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground and Nico
Dandy's Rule OK? - The Dandy Warhols

Q. How do you feel playing alive?
It's my favourite thing to do. There is nothing better in the world than playing a great show when everything is just flowing. You feel the audience with you and you are up there with your best friends playing the music you love. It's magic.

Q. How do you describe Oscar Suave sounds?
We're a psychedelic band. We use layers of guitars and heavy drums, keys and 2 lead vocalists. We don't have a set lead guitarist and there are 3 of us so this means we can mix it up a bit whilst at the same time retaining our identity. Our songs range from dark and brooding slow-burners, to 60's pop songs, to instrumental soundscapes, to full-out psych-rock and perhaps sometimes a hint of stoner-rock.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the aestas ep?
We recorded it over 2 pretty full-on days in September at DSi studios in North London. We made sure we were very well rehearsed before we went into the studio so that we could make the most of our time and get all of our ideas down. It really was a great time for us and brought us all a lot closer. A lot of what you hear on the record are ideas that one of us had in the studio and we've tried it and it just works. It's great to be in a band where everyone contributes to the end result.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
The Valkarys. From Edinburgh. I absolutely love them. Definitely one of my favourite bands ever. Everyone should check them out, brilliant people too. DeepSeaGreen, they are amazing - especially live. To be honest we're lucky in that we play with lots of great bands around the psych scene in London. Look out for Belakiss, Desert Mountain Tribe, Dead Coast, Lola Colt, Melody Nelson.

Q: Which bands would you love to made a cover version?
It would be fun to take a generic modern pop song and turn it into some sort of filthy, dirty, heavily psychedelic monster.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Ollie and I have lots of new songs that we're going to play around with for a while. It's an exciting time because writing songs together and getting things to fall into place is such a gratifying feeling. When we've nailed the new tunes we'll get back into the studio and release another record. Hopefully by the Summer. As always we'll be playing live shows accross the capital and are looking to do a Spring UK tour.

Q: Any parting words?
Not really, just thanks for having us!

Green tambourines with The Smoking Trees

Amigos boa viagem com The Smoking Trees.

***** Interview with The Smoking Trees *****

Q. When did Smoking Trees starts, tell us about the history...
SIR PSYCH: Al and I met in 2001 as co-workers at a music store in Los Angeles. I was just out of college and was trying to find my place in life, and Al was doing the same. We talked music and although our musical tastes were very different, our ambition for music was there. He schooled me in punk rock music and I showed him a world of music that he never knew existed with psychedelia. That's when we picked up our instruments and started writing some tunes. Al was in punk rock bands all throughout the East Los Angeles underground punk rock scene. In bands like Dial 69, Gunradio, Gumshoe, and Homesick to name a few. I was a DJ/Musician producing underground hip hop, but with a studio full of 60's psychedelic vinyl. I heard 60's psychedelia in the early 90's while digging for samples. I used to read the production credits to see the samples producers used and then dig for those records. It had to be in 95-96 when I heard a few producers use this sample which blew my fragile mind. The Beatnuts and Fat Joe used the sample of The Electric Prunes "Holy are You" from the LP "Release of an Oath". That happened to be one of the two albums I didn't have from them. The other being "Mass in F Minor". Production wise they are very similar in sound. Well I tracked down both of these albums and that's when I started the full scale adjustment from digging for production to straight up collector. I started incorporating my production style to the riffs Al was coming up with to create these catchy psych pop garage numbers. We started lout as a two-piece. Al on guitar, bass and vocals and myself on drums and vocals. I played a Mo Tucker styled drum kit with the kick drum upright, and loaded up with weights to deepen the tone. It was easier for me to sing with Al when I played drums this way. We incorporated other musicians to form a solid six piece, yet they dwindled down in numbers as time went on till it was back to a 2 piece in 2003, and it's been that way since.

Q: Who are your influences?
SIR PSYCH: Definitely 60's pop music, garage, psych, r&b. I could name names but it was basically just the recorded sound that was being made in the late 60's. When I hear it today it make me smile so hard. We didn't try to duplicate it or recreate it, we just tried to incorporate it into our music.

Q. Made a list of 5 albums of all time…
SIR PSYCH: We were just asked this recently it seems to change every time I list them. It ranges from Sagittarius "Present Tense to Hope Sandoval "Bavarian Fruit Bread". It changes from my moods that I listen to music to.

Q. How do you fell playing alive?

SIR PSYCH: As a two piece we sound fine but that's just not how we want to play live. When we meet the right musicians to gel with, not play with, gel with. We want the sound of the album to be there.

Q. How do you describe Smoking Trees sounds?
SIR PSYCH: 60's psych with the breakbeat of hip hop and the grit of garage. Catchy popsike tunes to sing to, dance to, make love to. We want to make a soundtrack to the lives of the listeners.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the album acetates?
SIR PSYCH: It took about 6 months to create, however we only recorded together once a week. The rest of the time was done in the production room for countless hours to create something new with our studio session recordings, and our sound definitely comes out through a complete first listen to our music. We are satisfied with the results yet we feel we can learn from and grow more each time we create.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
SIR PSYCH: Lots of good California bands. I'm big with White Fence, the new Foxygen album is sitting nicely with me. The sounds around the globe right now are really blooming and I am excited to be making music today with countless bands and musicians.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
SIR PSYCH: We are working on a few covers to release this year as a freebie. We covered everything from The Beatles to Los Brincos. Prepare yourselves!

Q: What´s the plans for future....?
SIR PSYCH: Record, record, record. Just recording music and pumping out jams and taking it day by day. For what we did in 2012, we hardly left the comforts of our family and our homes to accomplish. I expect with us stepping out of the shadows a bit and into the lit, we will travel the distance.

Q: Any parting words?
SIR PSYCH: Just to love each other. We can grasp the ears of the world with a whisper these days. Just take in life when your in the open. To smile and say "thank you" and say "Hello" to a stranger. They can't be any stranger than you. Tchau!

The Hardest Walk with Broken Water - An Interview

***** Interview with Broken Water *****

Q. When did Broken Water starts, tell us about the history...
J - kanako and i were in another band called sisters for a few years and after that band broke up we continued to play music together mostly just for fun. we ended up asking our friend abby to play bass with us for some songs i had been writing in 2008 and broken water was born.

Q: Who are your influences?
J- musically i'm influenced by all sorts of stuff. i first discovered punk rock when i was around 14 and listened to a lot of black flag, circle jerks, dead kennedys, etc. i'm also a big fan of the 80's/90's UK shoegaze movement, as well as the pacific northwest punk scene of the same era.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
J-that's a tough one and it changes all the time...i'll give it a shot though (in no particular order) "isn't anything" - my bloody valentine, "amanita" - bardo pond, "psychocandy" - jesus & mary chain, "bad moon rising" - sonic youth, "ramones" - ramones

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Kanako: Connected

Q. How do you describe Broken Water sounds?
Kanako: Like your mother giving birth to a 1969 Fender Twin Reverb under the ocean.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs and when the new album comes?
Kanako: We like to lock ourselves in a cabin in the middle of no where and do nothing but play and eat food and walk around the woods.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Kanako: awesome bands from Olympia: VEX, GAG, Dreamdecay, MOON

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Kanako: Chills, LOW, Bach, Neko Case, Cocteau twins, Yanka Dyagileva

Q: What´s the plans for future....
7 week US tour this spring, 6 week European tour this Fall and we would LOVE to drive our 23 year old van to South America!

Q: Any parting words?
J- hope to make it Brazil one day and play some shows, and check out the music scene you have going on down there!

My Little Underground with Crocodiles - An Interview

***** Interview with Crocodiles *****

Q. When did Crocodiles starts, tell us about the history...
Brandon and I started the band in San Diego during 2008. Everything else we had been involved in musically had fallen apart or become terribly tedious. We decided to write a song, press a record and book a tour at once. We did and so it all began.

Q: Who are your influences?
Are influences are everything under the sun from the Patti Smith to Jean Genet, from The Ramones to Frida Kahlo. Our bread and butter so to speak, is sixties songwriting craft.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
The Adverts - Crossing The Red Sea
The Ramones - Ramones
John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band
Lou Reed - Transformer
Bad Brains - yellow album

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
It feels great. I can't speak for the crowd though in some parts of the world they seem to really enjoy it.

Q. How do you describe Crocodiles sounds?
Well written psychedelic glam steady.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the abuns?
Not usually first but we always choose a studio or at least a place in the world where we want to record. We then decide if we'd like someone to produce it with us. After that we begin compiling our songs and fine tuning them. Once we're actually in the studio we have a strong sense of what were trying to accomplish and the feel we want to inject.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Punks On Mars, Heavy Hawaii, Plateaus, Colleen Green

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
I wouldn't mind covering the entire first Damned album.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We are recording our fourth album in Los Angeles in March then we will begin touring again after that.

Q: Any parting words?
Keep your dreams.

We Are The Infinite by Under The Wire

Meu amigo Tom, eu concordo contigo WE ARE THE INFINITE.

Ah, sim o próprio Tom deu uma explanada completa sobre o que é o Under the Wire.

Under The Wire, by Tom Lugo
Track by Track

The History
Jason Ellis approached me about possibly doing some guitars on some music he had started working on less than a month ago.

Jason first asked me to check out We are infinite, when I heard the base track the ideas started flowing like honey and within an hour I had the guitars, lyrics, and melodies all recorded. It's the fastest I have ever recorded anything but the music inspired me. The initial title that Jason gave the track was the inspiration to write that lyrics... I wanted the emotion of it to lift the spirit.

Based on that outcome of that track we decided to work on some more songs and Jason came up with the name Under the wire for the project. I recorded guitars to several other songs in a couple of days, which I am still working lyrics and vocal melodies for.

The Songs
But just like We are infinite, once I recorded the guitars for My Death, My Ballad the lyrics started flowing... I took some personal experiences that Jason has been going through as the catalyst for the lyrics.

We hope to take the project out on the road at some point, int he mean time we are happy with the music and the reception it is getting. It is truly humbling.

35% Fuzz, 25% Reverb, 5% Sitar, 9% Reverse, 10% Drones, 16% Other stuff with The Wands - An Interview

May the FUZZ be with you......

***** Interview with The Wands *****

Q. When did The Wands starts, tell us about the history...
Christian :
Mads and I have known each other for ages and we've been wanting to make music together for several years. About 1½ year ago, I moved to Copenhagen, and we started putting together a band. In december 2011 we played a couple of songs at a party at The Woken Trees' villa. We wrote some more songs and played our first “real” show in March 2012. After that things went pretty fast... In June we signed with Fuzz Club records and started working on our debut.

Q: Who are your influences?
Mads:
I don't think we have any main influences right now. The songs we did for the "Hello-Ep" is/were very inspired by 60's hippie/psych/garage rock. The full-length will probably be a bit different.
Christian:
We're also very influenced by some of the great 60's-revivalists of our time such as Spacemen 3, The Warlocks, Black Angels, the BJM. But I think the closer we get to finding what we consider our own sound, the less we think about who our influences are.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
Christian:
Generally I prefer not to make “best of”-lists but here's some of our favorites:
From Nowhere - The Troggs
Crown of Creation - Jefferson Airplane
Dark Shadows - Cold Sun
The Electric Prunes - The Electric Prunes
Dopesmoker (Jerusalem) - Sleep

Q. How do you feel playing alive?
Mads:
The Wands is definitely a live band. We love playing live and like so many other bands we're way better when we have an audience.

Q. How do you describe The Wands sounds?
35% Fuzz, 25% Reverb, 5% Sitar, 9% Reverse, 10% Drones, 16% Other stuff

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the debut?
Mads:
Our friends from “Broke” has a recording studio 5 meters from where we rehearse. therefore it was very easy for us to record our songs ongoing. We started recording with Mads Bergland, who also produced the EP, before we even played our first gig.
The debut was made over a long period of time, it reflects the development of the band since we first started. I think that's why it's so special to us.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Christian:
A lot of exciting stuff going on around here at the moment. Danish bands like The Road To Suicide, Shiny Darkly, The Woken Trees, Oracle O. and Spökraket are all worth much more attention than they're getting..
Mads:
Also Fuzz Club's The Lucid Dream from England who played an amazing gig at “The Reveb Conspiracy” this year. Really looking forward to their full-length debut.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Christian:
Don't know... Driving from Berlin to Leipzig we listened to one song for two-three hours. Would probably be that one. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath... It makes you wanna empty bottles...

Q: What are the plans for future....
Mads:
The main focus is on a full-length we're planning to make. We also want to tour Europe some more. We heard good stuff about playing in Portugal and Greece, so that's probably where we'll be heading next time. Probably some more shows in the UK as well...
This week we will be doing a video recording of a small live session at our rehearsal room. It will probably be out in the beginning of February.

Q: Any parting words?
Christian:
Thank you to the Blog that celebrates itself and good music.. we would love to go to Brazil some time. See ya!

Chuva de Tijolos by Robsongs

Chuva de Tijolos

Quando olho no relógio
São sempre as mesmas horas
E o tempo que nos afasta
É o mesmo que nos aproxima

A fé e a realidade pontiaguda

Sympathy For The Devil with The Outside Hours - An Interview

***** Interview with The Outside Hours *****

Q. When did The Outside Hours starts, tell us about the history...
We formed The Outside Hours in 2011. We were very much into music and we had similar taste so we decided to give it a go and do our own thing. We started rehearsing and the music was sounding good so we started writing some stuff. We did some shows here and there and we recorded our first EP "47 Miles of Barbed Wire".

Q: Who are your influences?
We love 60's garage rock and psychedelia, that was a huge influence to us when we started. We're also very influenced by bluesmen like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor,... All that kind of raw, nasty blues. And, of course, bands like The Velvet Underground, The Stooges or the Rolling Stones are also a huge influence in our music.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Wow, that's a tough question to answer. There are many albums that we love so it's hard to narrow it down to just five but here are the first ones that come to mind:

The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
The Stooges - Funhouse
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground
The Cramps - Psychedelic Jungle
The Outsiders - CQ

Q. How do you feel playing live?
One of the great things about being in a band is playing live. It's great to take your songs to a stage and let it all out. It's an amazing feeling, especially when you feel the audience is getting into it.

Q. How do you describe The Outside Hours sounds?
It's kinda hard to describe our own sound, I guess that's up to critics and our fans to decide and offer a description. But I'd say it's a kind of mixture of 60's psych, lots of blues and the proto-punk sound of bands like the Stooges. The key thing is taking your influences and do your own thing with them. That's what we try to do.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the albums?
We did everything ourselves. Total Do It Yourself style. We recorded, arranged and produced everything. Our two EPs "47 Miles of Barbed Wire" and "The Devil's Right Hand" were done that way. We were very confident about how we wanted to sound and that's how we did it.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
In Spain there are quite a few new bands that we dig. There's Guadalupe Plata, a great swampy blues band that are really worth checking out. We dig El Gran Manel too, lo-fi blues with a psychedelic touch. Junior Mackenzie is great as well. Caustic Roll Dave, Fuckin' Bollocks, Chemistry Set, Peachy Joke,... Also, I think there are many new psychedelic bands around that are really worth checking out like The Dead Skeletons, Tame Impala and many many more.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We don't usually play covers live but when we started as a band, we used to do a couple of Velvet Underground songs. It's fun to play that stuff. We used to cover "The Last Time" by the Stones too but I think we never played it live, only on rehearsals.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Record some new songs, play live as much as we can and hopefully do some shows abroad. It's great to play in other countries, meet some new people and see how people receive your music. We did some shows in Berlin a year ago in february and we had a blast. It was a lot of fun.

Q: Any parting words?
We'd like to thank all the people that listen to The Outside Hours and support and believe in the band. And thank you for interviewing us!

Reverberation with The Graceful Slicks - An Interview

***** Interview with The Graceful Slicks *****

When did Graceful Slicks starts, tell us about the history...
Al and Lew were already in a local punk band which was fading out and wanted to do something more psychedelic. The rest of us were recruited online, through friends or as workmates over the past three years. We have had a few friends come and go and the odd special guest but the main lineup hasn’t changed for about a year and a half now, this has helped to define our sound.

Q: Who are your influences?
There are a lot, starting with the 60's era, mainly garage psych stuff, things like The Electric Prunes, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles and Neil Young, then later into JAMC and My Bloody Valentine and Ride, some of the grunge from that era too Pixies and Butthole Surfers. Also contemporaries like BJM, Black Angels of course. Then people from around the world like Nusrat and Ravi Shankar. Art and film play a crucial role, artists like Dali and Alton Kelley, films like the Trip and Easy Rider, books like On the Road, Koolaid Acid Test, Catch 22, all of these things combine to the greater sphere of influences.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
My Bloody Valentine – Loveless
Neil Young – On the Beach
The Doors- The Doors
Lou Reed - Transformer
The Monks - Black Monk Time

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Generally pretty drunk, hometown (Oxford, UK) gigs are rarely remembered by any of us. But it is the best time, stuff comes together when you play live and we are normally having a good time on stage.

Q. How do you describe Graceful Slicks sounds?
It is a vintage sound rooted between 60s psych and 90s indie.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
One of us comes up with the initial concept, whether it is a riff or some lyrics it doesn’t really matter. From that point they are generally in control of the concept of the song, people add in their bits, we don’t really have a ‘you do this’ vibe, we are pretty open and all have a similar concept of the slicks sound, no one suddenly starts playing metal riffs. We take it to the studio and do it all live, put some more tracks on it then work and rework the tracks until we are happy, which takes a long time. We are our own worst critics.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
We have been listening to a lot of Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall recently. America is killing it with good music at the moment, that seems to be where all the vision and progression is in the psych genre. Each person in the band listens to different music, so its a pretty broad mix.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We once did a cover version of Butthole Surfers - Cough Syrup, but it sounded shit, we are rubbish at playing other peoples songs, we struggle with our own…..

Q: What´s the plans for future....
New demo out in early 2013, off the back of that we are going to get signed by a massive record company, make millions, get lots of girls and drugs and make the greatest album of all time which makes all past and future music redundant. You have to aim high these days.

Q: Any parting words?
Can you smell the up dog?

Soft as Snow but Warm Inside with The Cherry Wave - An Interview

***** Interview with The Cherry Wave *****

Q. When did Cherry Wave starts, tell us about the history...
The band started earlier this year (2012) with me, Paul (guitar/vocals) and Adam (Drums) jamming some ideas and putting together some songs I had written, then when we needed a bassist I asked Billy as I had been involved in previous projects with him and knew he would be into doing it. We then recorded the debut EP by ourselves as a 3 piece in a rehearsal room. Not long after the EP came out we decided we wanted to incorporate another guitarist into the band and Billy and I contacted David, who we had both worked with before, he came on board and that's been our line-up ever since.

Q: Who are your influences?
The band has a pretty wide influence range and we've all came from different musical backgrounds but some of the influences for this particular band are My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Astrobrite, Flying Saucer Attack, Pinkshinyultrablast, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, Ringo Deathstarr, No Joy, Medicine, Spacemen 3 etc etc. Basically loud, noisy, fuzzy sounding bands. We love fuzz.

Q. Made a list of 5 albums of all time…
Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes
Slint - Spiderland
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Astrobrite - Pinkshinyultrablast
Shudder To Think - Pony Express Record

Q. How do you feel playing live?
I think we all really enjoy playing live and as a band we have tried to play as much as we can. Being in bands can sometimes be hard work if everyone isn't really determined to play as much as possible, but thankfully everyone involved in The Cherry Wave wants to play live as much as we can and put out as much music as we can. We're a pretty hard working band in comparison to previous bands I've been in and we're constantly writing and coming up with ideas.

Q. How do you describe Cherry Wave sounds?
Like a giant moth made of fuzz trying to make it's way around a huge reverberating cave in space while someone mumbles something in the distance, then put that sound through a lot of effects pedals.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the ep?
The debut EP was recorded by ourselves very cheaply but the new EP we're about to release was recorded at The Bottling Plant Studios over a couple of days. We got to use a lot of gear we could never afford and we all really enjoyed the whole process. We'll likely record there again in the future.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
There's a lot of bands we love but some of them are, Ursula Minor, Vcheka, Battery Face, The Yawns, Fat Janitor, Shallow, The Garden of Elks, Honeyslide, Young Philadelphia, 13 Monsters, Jesus Deluxe, No Island, Cosmic Dead.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
It's possible we may do a Fugazi cover at some point. They're different enough from us that it may sound interesting. Plus, Fugazi are amazing!!

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We have a new EP about to come out (January 2013) that we're putting out in collaboration with Wolf Amongst Wolves Records. Then we'll have a split EP out after that with our friends from Arizona, Shallow. We'd really, really love to put out an album next year at some point, aside from that we just want to play as many shows as we possibly can.

Q: Any parting words?
Thanks so much for the interview man! Really appreciate you asking.

Gazing at shoes to make music to gaze at shoes to. FUZZ!!!!

Interstellar Overdrive with Mushroom Club - An Interview

***** Interview with Mushroom Club *****

Q. When did Mushroom Club start, tell us about the history...
The Mushroom Club was born in the summer of 2012 when the 1st batch of sounds and songs were put together by Paul. Then during recording sessions of the EP1 Blair became involved.

Q: Who are your influences?
We are heavily influenced by many things such as the things that surround us, art, film, literature, drugs, friends and family and people that we meet on our journey through life. We have so many musical influences it would be hard to name them all but here are some of the bands. Q. Make a list of top 5 albums of all time…
I couldn't possibly pick 5 albums as it's just too hard as I love lots of bands but here is a few we love
Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
The Stone roses - The Stone Roses
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
The La's - The La's
Spacemen 3 - Sound of confusion

Q. How do you fell playing live?
Playing live is one of those magical experiences that take us to a special place in our minds a place we call heaven.

Q. How do you describe Mushroom Club sounds?
It's impossible for us to describe the sound of The Mushroom Club. It's almost impossible to express it in our music let alone put it in to words.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs and when the album comes?
The process of recording on EP1 was that I created a sound and then wrote the songs and then I recorded them in my home studio. Then I took the songs to Blair where we recorded them again changed a few things and added the vocal and then he mixed them. We are currently working on the follow up to EP1 which should be out early 2013.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Sonic Jesus
Dead Horse One
The Cult Of Dom Keller
Goat
Black Market Karma
Helicon
The Blue Angel Lounge
The Wands
Jacco Gardner

Dirty Blonde Asylum
Los Tentakills
His Name Is Codeine

Q: Which bands you love to have made a cover version?
Pink Floyd, 13th floor elevators

Q: What´s the plans for future...
I’ve just finished writing some songs for EP 2 which we will start recording soon. Hopefully put out a few records this year and our 1st album.

Q: Any parting words?
We would like to say thanks to everyone who has listened to The Mushroom Club and bought or downloaded our music. We would also like to say thanks for the support and for asking us to do this interview.

All Tomorrow Parties with Get Your Gun - An Interview

***** Interview with Get Your Gun *****

Q. When did GYG starts, tell us about the history...
Me and the drummer, Simon, are brothers. Simon knew Søren from school and knew he played bass - so we startet out playing instrumental surf - thats 4 years ago. After a while we wanted to make something else, and I began writing some songs. After the first practice as the "new" Get Your Gun we had three songs. The sound was somehow there from the beginning. The band has always consisted of the same three members.

Q: Who are your influences?
We have all listened to a lot of different music and still do, but if I look at my own record collection it consists of blue music - country, folk, noise rock etc. - its all different shades of blue to me. dark and melancholic music just speaks to me more - it's more honest to me. I have always been into the american surf guitar sound as well. For the moment I'm listening to Mazzy Star - rediscovering old records is great!

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Velvet Underground & Nico
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Neil Young - Harvest
16 Horsepower - Sackcloth 'n' Ashes
Portishead - Dummy

Thats a tough one - the list would probably look different tomorrow.

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
We enjoy playing concerts - we really are a live band. Thats where our music is presented the best I think.
We been playing a lot the last two years and I really think we've grown as a live act. It would be nice to come to Brazil in the future and show it to you.

Q. How do you describe GYG sounds?
heavy, dark, simple, naked.

I also think our music is filled with a lot of contrasts - introvert. extrovert, quiet, loud, hopeless, hopeful.

I don't like dictating what people should get out of our music - take a listen.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs and when the album comes?
We have made a 7'' vinyl and an EP, so we haven't really found our "way of doing it". But we had a really good process making the EP in a studio in Copenhagen called Studio73 - we are still really pleased with the outcome. I can't tell you when the record is coming out, because I don't know. But we are making something new in 2013. We were also chosen for The Reverb Conspiracy Psych Compilation record where Dead Skeletons and Singapore Sling also appears with a song.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
We have some very good friends in two other great bands from Denmark called Woken Trees and Tales of Murder and Dust. Take a listen.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We always plan a half year ahead and then see which goals we reached and then go from there. So actually now is the time where we are going to plan the next half year. We have plans of going back to Russia and Estonia. We have some plans of playing in some other countries, but I can't really say more at this time.
And then we plan on recording something new.

Q: Any parting words?
Thanks for contacting us - we would love to come to Brazil and tour. We just need an invitation and some airplane tickets!

Venus in Furs with Lola Colt - An Interview

***** Interview with Lola Colt *****

Q. When did Lola Colt start, tell us about the history...
Lola Colt began life as a song writing/music project by founding members Gun and Matt L. After a year or more spent defining the sound and creating demos a band was formed and we played our first gig, supporting LA legends The Warlocks. That was two years ago.

Q: Who are your influences?
Anyone that tries to express imagination and feeling through music/sound. From the Rock n Roll pioneers of the 50's like Link Wray, through bands in the 60's… Jefferson Airplane, The Velvet Underground etc. The Jesus & Mary Chain in the 80's… there are bands of note in all eras (and genres). Bands today that are keeping the tradition alive include The Black Angels and The Brian Jonestown Massacre - both of whom are able to tap into something deeper to create music that's, in a way, timeless.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
That's impossible, it'll never be the same twice, but here are some of the staples…
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychcandy
Link Wray - Jack The Ripper
Pink Floyd - Meddle

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Like we're stoking up some mighty fire in the belly of a freight train that non of us are really in control of.

Q. How do you describe Lola Colt sounds?
We prefer to leave that to the listener.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs and when the album comes?
Everything to date has been recorded and produced by the band. We're considering releasing an album later this year.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
The whole psych scene is really happening right now - bands like Cult of Dom Keller, Temples, Dark Bells... Also, we'd love to hear more from the Icelandic Dead Skeletons. Newcomers to this scene should definitely pick up the European Reverb Conspiracy compilation which came out in November, and check out the latest Austen Psych Fest line-up what a taste of what's going on in the States.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
I don't think we'll ever do a cover, but if we did, Venus In Furs by the Velvet Underground would be perfect.

Q: What's the plans for future....
To keep challenging ourselves, creating music that we love and sharing it with those who want to be part of it.

Q: Any parting words?
Thank you for the Blog that Celebrates Itself!
