1º A Place to Bury Strangers - Exploding Head

- O mestre do noise Oliver Ackerman mais uma vez colocou a prova quem pode mais com o APTBS atualmente, discaço absolutamente essencial.

2º Maribel - Aesthetics

- Os novatos da noruega apadrinhados por Emil Nikolaisen, mandaram o album mais psicodélico do ano, uma obra prima infestada de grandes canções, para mim são os Telescopes da atualidade, sensacional.

3º Screen Vinyl Image - Interceptors

- O casal Reid, depois do colapso do Alcian Blue, nos concedeu esta preciosidade de electro-noise-shoegazer-goth, estupendo.

4º 93 Million Miles From The Sun

- A mais shoegazer das bandas atuais, uma muralha de wall of sound perpetua o album de estréia do 93...para fãns nostalgicos da Scene.

5º Crocodiles - Summer of Hate

- O encontro entre Suicide/J&MC/Spacemen 3 e a modernidade, aqui a música do ano I Wanna Kill You....fenomenal!!!!!

Menção para discaços como Del Black Aloha dos Vandelles, Daniel Land & The Moderns Painters e o melhor album de dreampop do ano, Love Songs For The Chemical Generation, os australianos do Sunday Reeds e seu psychocandyano Drowing History, a ressurreição do Horrors e seu Primary Colours, o perfect pop class of 86 do Pains of Being Pure At Heart e o Get Color do Health e as experimentações esquizofrenicas marcam outro ponto alto, o etereo Fauns e seu album homonino....enfim um grande ano com grandes albuns...ah sim Project Komakino e seu doentio The Struggle for Utopia marcaram o album pos punk do ano.

Patrimonio do noise, shoegazer e psicodelia em estado bruto e primal, eis que a nova, bombastica e psicodelica canção que dara nome ao novo album do Serena Maneesh é disponibilizada no site da 4AD, pois é a famigerada gravadora é o novo berço dos noruegueses, a canção intitulada Ayisha Abyss é uma esbornia de wall of sound, encharcada de wah-wahs por todo lado, um vocal quase que inaudivel e muito, muito psicodelismo, prato cheio para quem esta anciosamente como eu aguardando o demorado segundo album do doidaço Emil Nikolaisen e sua trupe.

Dark Entries with Project: Komakino

Basicamente minha formação musical teve inicio nos primordios do pos punk inglês e na darkwave, sempre fui fascinado por Cure, Bunnymen, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Chameleons, The Sound e senta que lá vem a lista, feita a devida apresentação, a conexão aqui é com o lado escuro dos sons, acabei descobrindo tardiamente e meio que sem querer este que é o debut desta que, já tornou-se socia de carteirinha aqui em casa, o Project: Komakino, e o album intitulado The Struggle For Utopia, uma seleta e doentia ponte entre os tempos modernos e os clássicos do pos punk, esta tudo aqui, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Bowie fase Berlin, The Idiot, bateria forte e tribal, vocal pesado e denso com escos de Peter Murphy, guitarras tensas e gritantes, o desespero esta mais presente do que se imagina, Penumbra I, Syndrome, Nebula, Temple, Civility dão as boas vindas a mundo escuro e desolado do Project: Komakino.

Só um aviso: eu li muita gente torcendo o nariz para o album e sinceramente não entendi o motivo, vou colocar aqui só um comentario final, na minha opinião este é um dos melhores albuns do resgate do pos punk moderno, que a darkwave do Project: Komakino deve assustar a criançadinha indie, eu tenho plena certeza que deve, e tomara que a meninada não fique perto demais, porque este The Struggle for Utopia não é recomendado para qualquer ouvido.

Pure Phase by Inverness

Essa galera é muito, muito critiavita, Lucas de Almeida, Marcio Barcha, Mateus Perito e Flávio Fraschetti ou Inverness para os mais desavisados, já haviam nos agraciado com um dos mais etereos e psicodelicos albums deste pais, chamado Forest Fortress, eu sou suspeito para falar algo a respeito, além de ser brother de metade da banda e ter visto uma duzia de shows, é fato que a os caras vem a cada canção, a cada show ficando mais e mais maduros e coesos, facilmente uma dos melhores shows ao vivo do pais, junto a bandas como A Sea of Leaves, Duelectrum, Loomer, Wry e outros mais, formam a linha de frente do revitalizado shoegazer brazuca, que ontém e hoje esta sendo comemorado em Sorocaba via Extravanganza Festival, que infelizmente não pude comparecer por problemas alheios a minha vontade, mas ok, tenho certeza que o Inverness deve ter mandando um dos melhores shows do Festival, facil facil.

Voltando a resenha, recebi o EP novissimo dos caras via Dione da gravadora Bolinhas Records, e a solicitação para resenha-lo foi obviamente aceita de imediato, e aqui meus amigos, a tendencia psicodelica do Inverness é o fio condutor do EP, a já conhecida e predileta Astral Slide, aparece como carro chefe, mais é exatamente nas 3 demaisTo Finnaly Sleep, Real of love e Castles que te pegam mesmo, todas altamente psicodelicas, etereas e climaticas, com fumaças por todos os lados, residuos alcoolicos permeiam-as sem dó nem piedade, o mestre Jason Pierce certamente aprovaria com nota máxima. Um EP belissimo que fecha um grande ano para o shoegazer nacional.

Seventeen Seconds with Black Swan Green

É fato que desde a primeira audição do majestoso album de estréia do Black Swan Green, onde você checar aqui o quanto eu fiquei e estou devoto a banda, eu meio que rotineiramente acesso a pagina dos cara sno myspace pois a qualquer momento seria lançado o novo EP e isso aconteceu mesmo, The Lake é o nome desta perola, e a própria de The Lake é o destaque aqui, já nascendo clássica, seguindo o shoegazer gélido e mergulhando ainda mais nas entranhas do pos punk clássico, The Lake poderia ser um lado b ou estar muito bem dentro do classico Script of the Bridge do Chameleons, a perfeição em forma de canção, seguindo dentro desta viagem particular ofertada pelo BSG, temos Waxwing presente no debut e aqui em versão psicodelica, a perfeição e o carisma de H. J. Crickmore, Kevin Kahawai, Loren Mash e Cliff Rawson, esta toda contida nas 3 ultimas musicas do EP Humbolt´s Gift, The Mirror e Fader colocam o lado shoegazer a frente ou se Robert Smith tocasse no Ride, um verdadeiro primor.

Grande EP que vem engrossar a lista dos grandes lançamentos deste final de ano, isso sem contar que na ultima vez que pesquisei informações na pagina do BSG fiquei mais orgulhoso ainda, pois há a referência na parte da imprensa onde a banda transcreveu parte da resenha do The Ruin Gaze publicada aqui no TBTCI, segue trecho abaixo:

"...an epic air leads all the songs of Ruin Gaze, ghosts of Robert Smith and Mark Burgess on all sides,... Magically the thread of the album wanders through other guitars, resonating Afghan Whigs in some passages as in the poignant Teary Eye Waste where the feeling of Gregg Dulli is very strong, but never aggressive in terms of speed or something screamed, here the noise is slow and hypnotic, desperate and grim. A Storm in Heaven by The Nova Saints - An Interview

Imagine o seguinte, 4 canções em um unico EP, pegue as 4 e tente eleger a melhor, só que neste caso é basicamente impossivel, porque as 4 são absolutamente perfeitas, uma combinação preciosa mesclando a psicodelia 60´s, o resgate da class of 86 com odores de Creation Rec., adicionando os melhores momentos de Ride e Verve, essa é a formula que estes ingleses de Bristol nos brindam de forma deslumbrante, o nome do ep é The Draft, o da banda é The Nova Saints, os caras além de tudo isso já tem no curriculo fans de primeira grandeza, exemplos que podem ser conferidos nas próprias declarações, vejam só:

Facil, facil o album de estreia que tende a ser lançado em 2010 promete fazer mais barulho ainda, e para deleite de quem esta interessado em tudo relacionado aos caras, abaixo uma grande conversa com John Banks e Steve Waterhouse com muita, mas muita informação sobre essa que já é minha aposta para 2010, com vocês The Nova Saints:

Q. When did Nova Saints start, tell us about the beginning…
Steve: We were actually booked for our first gig before we even had a band. We had some friends in a band who asked us to support them so we literally learnt some songs and, in my case, an instrument in a couple of weeks. That would be about 5 years ago.

John: We just kept going!

Q. Who are the influences from the band?
John: I would say our primary influences when starting out were bands like Ride and The Mary Chain who combined classic pop songwriting with that chaotic and beautiful wall of sound type thing. Aesthetically My Bloody Valentine were a big influence.

Steve: There’s loads that I think come through our music - Brian Jonestown Massacre, early Verve stuff, The Beatles, Doves. It goes on...

John: Yeah, we’ve got quite individual influences as band members. For me The Byrds, The Beatles and The Beach Boys are hugely important.

Q. What´s the most important thing in compilations like Psychedelica Series to the bands?
Steve: For us, we were pleased to be on the same record as some acts that we were really into. Bands like Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Hiss, The Black Angels - we'd been listening to their records for a long time so to be considered worthy of sharing a record with them meant a lot to us. I suppose it felt like we'd arrived in one respect.

John: And it’s given us exposure that we never would have had otherwise. The fact that we’re being interviewed by someone from Brazil says it all really. My next door neighbour doesn’t even know I’m in a band, yet people the other side of the world are into our music and that’s thanks to the Northern Star comps.

Q. Tell us about the process of recording The Draft?
John: The Draft EP is made up of what were originally intended to be demos. We recorded the majority of it at Moles Studios in Bath, which is where Spiritualized recorded Pure Phase and Ladies and Gentlemen… That alone was enough for us. ‘The Draft’ and ‘Slow Down’ were recorded live in one take although we did some overdubs on ‘The Draft’. ‘High Roller’ was recorded with Nick from The Verve in Bristol. It was one of the first recordings we ever did as a band. I remember he recorded the guitars SO fucking loud and we just assumed that that’s how guitars were always recorded! The studio was in the living room of someone’s house and we had the neighbours round hammering on the front door, screaming at us to turn it down.

Steve: We were only just finding our feet as a recording band during that time - something we've become a lot better at, which I think will show on the next record. I think the fact that it was recorded live comes through and that’s something we’re all really pleased about. There's a looseness that you can only get from playing live. A groove, if you like.

Q. The Nova Saints have some fans like Nick McCabe and Clint Boon...what´s its meaning to the band?
John: It means an enormous amount obviously, especially the Nick thing because we all grew up as such massive fans of The Verve. It’s easy to think, though, that that kind of patronage means a free ride, which just isn’t true. It was weird how when people heard about the McCabe connection we suddenly started getting compared to The Verve in every review, which we never had before, but it’s flattering more than anything. And it reassured us early on that if Nick McCabe likes what we’re doing then we must be doing something right.

Steve: It always feels a bit surreal when people like that, people whose music you've been listening to for years and years and who you have massive respect for, talk about liking your music. It makes you believe; keeps you going.

Q.Tell us about the crescent new scene from shoegazing bands…
John: We’ve never really felt part of a scene and certainly not a ‘shoegazing’ scene.

Steve: It's a strange genre ‘shoegazing’. Sometimes we're labeled with it and sometimes we're told we're not shoegazing enough! There are a few bands coming out at the moment - people like School of Seven Bells - who are making that kind of music using electronics as opposed to a wash of massive guitars, which I think is pretty cool. I like what I've heard of The Big Pink. They seem to be coming from the right place.

John: The Big Pink don’t do anything for me at all! They sound like Chapterhouse, who were fine the first time around I guess, but do we really need to hear it all again just with better drum machines? The reason I still like bands like Ride and My Bloody Valentine was that they wrote great songs. Anyone can disguise their shortcomings as a musician with a load of effects pedals and reverb, we’ve all done it, but to write a really great pop song – that’s what endures. It’s not shoegazing that I like. Shoegazing is just a name given to a sonic idea - a great idea, don’t get me wrong - but it’s not enough in itself. I like pop music.

Steve: The Horrors’ last album is one of the best things I've heard in a while... brilliant live too.

John: I’ll second that!

Q.Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Steve: We've covered The Beatles in the past. Primal Scream, The Who…

John: The Small Faces, The Creation…

Steve: I don't know going forward... I'm not sure I'd ever commit anything to record but it's always good fun to play someone else's stuff live. I dunno... maybe a Mary Chain tune? Nice and easy to play!

John: ‘Take Me To The Other Side’ by Spacemen 3 would be amazing. We should form a Spacemen 3 tribute band with Saturation Point.


Q.Which new bands you recommended?
John: They’re not new but I’m digging The Besnard Lakes at the moment. They’re made up of members of The Dears and Godspeed You! Black Emperor but don’t sound like either of those bands! And The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are great because they make me feel about 15 again.

Steve: Exit Calm are the business. If you haven't heard them, you should.

Q.What´s the plans for future? New records, a tour….
John: We’re recording our debut album at the moment. Hopefully it’ll be out next year so all our energies are focused on that at the moment.

Steve: Yeah, the album's all that's concerning us at the moment. It would be great to get it finished and released next year. Whenever it does come out a tour would seem the next logical step. Watch this space…

Q. Any order important thing to tell us…
Steve: Keep listening. We'll be worth the wait.

Year of Noise by Stellarium - An Interview

Facilmente, uma das bandas mais barulhentas da atualidade o Stellarium já conhecidissimo por estes lados, sai de Singapura para o mundo e faz uma ponte por aqui novamente, com um Bootleg, cortesia do dono da banda Mr. AZ, um bad person como ele próprio se intula, AZ e a guerrilha armada do Stellarium, destilam altas doses de noise nesta apresentação assustadoramente barulhenta onde o público era composto de punkers e grindecores que mal sabiam o que estava se passando naquele momento, ponto apice do espetaculo é a parte final com a maravilhosa Dead Nebula. Esse Live at Blackhole é um aperitivo para o debut dos caras que esta saindo amanhã e pode ser adquirido via Unexplaineble Recordings.

Q.When did Stellarium starts, tell us about the beginning…
A. Stellarium was formed very long ago, in a galaxy and space far away. It's more noisy back there and we've arrived in this time and space to spread the noise.

Q.Who are the influences from the band?
A. We like dark and moody sounds, intense and from a higher state of existence. We draw them from 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s era. That's a whole lot of research for you to do. Now go.

Q. Tell us about the process of recordings?
A. We normally jam a lot before hitting the studios. There is a certain process where we like to tap the raw energy and power from the essence of a song. After that it's a matter of focusing that energy down on record.

Q. Tell us about the Supersonic Festival....
A. Supersonic Sound Festival is the best shoegaze festival. There is no hype, no holier than thou shoegaze seniority attitude or elitism like how you would come cross in other festivals of the same genre. You should come, it's gonna be a blast. It's like a caveman's Link Wray Rumble party.

Q. Which bands you love to made a cover version?
A. There are many bands worth covering. It's kinda a hard decision to make.

Q. Which new bands you recommended?
A. Maribel, Screen Vinyl Image, Vandelles, Ceremony, Pinkshinyultrablast, Sexconsciousyoungmoderns

Q. What´s the plans for future?new records, a tour….
A. There are some tracks that we've done that we've decided to roll back for the future, some nice palette of styles and sounds. There could be a split EP, a 7" Ep too. An east coast tour of the US is in the plans too for 2011/2012. Some say the world will end in 2012? I wonder why.

Happy Birthday to TBTCI

Eu meio que ia deixando passar batido a data de hoje, fato é que a festa esta feita, comemoração do primeiro ano de existência do TBTCI, data serissima para mim eu particularmente acho altamente bacana a data, ainda mais que trato este pedaço aqui como uma extensão de casa, com muito carinho e respeito a todos os visitantes e principalmente as bandas que são a força motriz daqui.

Agradeço demais todos os que direta e indiretamente contribuem diariamente para que este local seja sempre um ponto de opiniões e sugestões, logicamente que totalmente egocentrista, mas que graças a este Blog pude conhecer pessoas bacanerrimas, do porte de Tadeu e Michel (Amor Louco), Al Schenkel (Sussuros e Escarros), dentre outros tantos que vira e mexe estam por aqui, isso sem contar nas BANDAS, Don do SexConciousYoungModerns, Scott Causer (Electric Mainline), Youngteam, Stellarium, Messias (brincando de deus) o pessoal do Anything After, Soren Well, Electric Assembly, Elson (Sinewave), a galera do Inverness, Filipe (Duelectrum), muita gente bacana mesmo que manda emails, enfim, fico altamente orgulhoso por contribuir com algo que para mim é essencial e fundamental para que tudo esteja sempre bem, A MUSICA.

Heaven Sent An Angel with Soren Well - An Interview

Brooklyn, NY, é absolutamente incrivel a quantidade de bandas sensacionais que estão sendo criadas na cidade, já tivemos o Pré Punk, a No Wave, e tantas e tantas outras cenas e agora NY simplesmente nos dá inumeros tesouros sejam mais shoegazers, mais garagem ou mais noisepoppers, o fato é que a cidade é a mecca da nova musica alternativa e não tem para ninguém.

Passeando pelo My Space me deparei com esse tesouro chamado Soren Well e fiquei deslumbrado de verdade com a sonoridade dos caras, um shoegazer classico daqueles especiais mesmo, nivel Ride, MBV, Chapterhouse, Boo Radleys, músicas esculpidas através de dissonantes guitarras e loops com vocais que mais parecem outra guitarra, uma perfeita maravilha, dai para variar busquei o pessoal da banda e me deparei o Derek, extremamente acessivel, simpatico e como eu, um grande fã de tudo isso que nos fascina, dai foi um passo para realizar mais uma entrevista muito, mas muito gratificante e com um presente do Derek e seu estupendo Soren Well. Guardem bem este nome....

Q.When did Soren Well start, tell us about the beginning…
A. I guess Soren Well came to be in the fall of 2008 when I began writing some songs under that name, when I had first been put in contact with Jason by a mutual friend Craig (he owns some internet list or something). We both really dug the early 90's britpop / shoegaze sound and clicked pretty much instantly. We actually recorded his vocals to the instrumental demo the night I met him. We had tried to get off the ground with that demo alone, lacking a permanent rhythm section. Then the stars aligned and Kevin, Kristin, and Eric joined up with Jason and myself. It's been the most pain free musical expedition any of us have even been on.

Q.Who are the influences for the band?
A. Well there's the gateway drugs... Things we heard on the radio growing up like Smashing pumpkins, Blur, Oasis, Verve, Primal Scream and that sort of "dreamy" radio friendly rock moment that America was briefly exposed too. I was luckily turned on to more under the radar UK groups like Slowdive, Chapterhouse, Curve, My Bloody Valentine, etc. From there you could say that I found my "sonic personality" and what I wanted to do musically.

Q.Brooklyn, NY is a mecca from new noise/shoegazer bands, tell us about the scene in the city.
A. Truly Inspiring and Utterly unflattering. Everyone is in a band here. You can find awesome instruments and musicians to use them but moving forward from there, well Its tough. There is just SO much going on any given evening. Getting people to turn up at your live shows, DJ sets, etc is tricky. You really have to offer something that can't be found elsewhere. Maybe we sell nostalgia.

Q.Tell us about the process of recording the ep?
A. I have a recording studio called Honeyland, and the recording process is very relaxed here. Eric and I have a great dynamic recording together as he is the hand of reason to some of my more unorthadox production methods. Sometimes we take what we have for granted, as we are only investing time into producing songs. The first day of tracking drums, I was more hungover than I, possibly anybody, had ever been before. I spent most of that week in bed pretty sick. Eric single handedly had to hit record from the control room and run behind the kit for every song. That was a dark winter; though it was funny.

Q.Which bands songs would you love to make a cover version?
A. We've done "she's so high" by Blur and we are slowwwwly working out a version of Q lazarus's "goodbye horses" I'm constantly obsessing and re-obsessing with songs that I can hear sounding pretty cool with our spin on it.

Q.Which new bands do you recommend?
A. Telltale, Electric Umbilical Cord, and the Violet Hour are very awesome. The morning after girls are very fucking awesome.

Q.What´s the plans for future?new records, a tour….
A. The album comes out this winter. We're excited... It's been a while waiting to release these songs... Like, it's easy to get sick of things you have been rehearsing for a year. We're in discussion with a band that we all really like to support them on their winter tour of the US and Australia. As of now its keep writing and not freeze to death.

Prediletissimos deste que vos escreve, o Anything After passou por aqui com um tufão de white noise com seu absurdo album de estréia, que conforme eu coloquei é mais ou menos assim:

"There´s Something Warm e é um choque sua audição, um verdadeiro massacre noise em alta rotação sem tempo para se respirar. O vocal neuroticamente gritado dá o tom exato para as estridentes guitarras e o wall of sound que carrega o album do inicio ao fim.

Q.When did Anything After starts, tell us about the beginning…
A. Well Anything After was just idea during junior year of high school. then late senior year of high school we started to get more serious. but offically it start June of 2004.

Q.Who are the influences from the band?
A.Well the main influences are The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, New Order, The Cure, Flesh For Lulu, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode.

Q.Tell us about the process of recording There´s Somenthing Warm?
A. Well were fairly young at the time when we recorded that album, maybe like 19 20? We kind of wanted to just went head into the studio not know what to do..so we did what we thought we should do..record two rythem guitars, a solo track, bass track and the drums and then of course added the oh so yummy white noise! :D it took us about maybe..a month to finish that album..we recorded 2 versions of the album one by ourselves and another one with help a of friend that knew how to use the recording studio. So yeah the version you are hearing is the one with our friend showing us how to use our recording studio. hahaha

Q. How Anything After feels playing alive?Tell us about the shows...

A. We love playing live shows. when ever we get the chance to play live, we always try to put on a good show..even if it's just for 15 minutes! Someone described our shows as if they were watching a trainwreck happening..they couldnt keep there eyes off of us. I guess thats a good thing right?

Q.Which bands you love to made a cover version?
A. We dont do covers normally. We play cover songs during practice or at like sound checks for warms up. Our fans are here to see Anything After so we will give them Anything After. Put during our warms up we like to play Ceremony by Joy Division/New Order.

Q.Which new bands you recommended?
A. I would want to say new bands because they been out for awhile but I'd recommend Taking a listen to The Raveonettes Album. Really good stuff..we dont listen to new music that much..we kind of just like put ourselves in hole when ever we start recording new stuff.

Q.What´s the plans for future?new records, a tour….
A. We are almost done recording our 2nd album. this album has taken us about two years to complete, but now that we got stuff rolling again..everything is falling in to place and we are looking at a release date of late 2010.

Como dizia o programa, "senta que lá vem história" e isso aqui é pura história, alias histórico, East Kilbride, Scotland, mais conhecida por ser a terra natal dos maiores J&MC, mas esta pequena cidade da Escocia, produziu na mesma epoca outra banda que sucumbiu a história, mas que deixou marcado definitivamente a essência do que a cidade era, primeiro que o Meat Whiplash foi a primeira banda a assinar com a Creation, segundo que a capa de seu unico 7" foi concebida por Bobby Gillespie, produzido pelos irmãos Reid, precisa mais??Precisa porque 1 unico 7" e 4 canções colhidas de Peel Sessions da aquele gosto amargo de querer mais e mais e muito mais, ainda mais pelo seguinte, se os caras eram banda de abertura do Jesus, tinham que ter a mesma caracteristica e eles tinham, só que mais bubblegum e mais esquizofrenicos tipo Fall tudo isso a´la Jesus, só sei o seguinte Don´t Slip Up e Here It Comes são clássicos absolutos do underground de todos os tempos, noisepop doentio e pegajoso, com muito wall of sound...espancando um kit de bateria basicamente inaudivel, um pout pourri para os amantes de música seja class of 86, shoegazer, noise, pos punk, tanto faz, tem que ter Meat Whiplash na tua coleção, isso fora as 4 musiquinhas da peel sessions, Loss, Walk Away, Eat me to the Core, She Comes Tomorrow são fantasticas também....uma pena que a banda não vingou, mas para quem curte os desmembramentos do underground inglês e quiser ir atrás, a banda depois do single recrutou a vocalista Alex Taylor que era do Shop Assistants e dai a banda virou Motorcycle Boy, mas ai já é outra história para outro dia...

Q. When Moonbeams starts?Tell us about the beggining...
A - Moonbeams started in Spring 2009, but I have been making music for a long time. I have loved shoegaze for a while now. I started Moonbeams as my own project, recording overdubs of myself in my bedroom. We initially were going to blend twee pop and shoegaze, but I had more fun writing the shoegaze songs, so I stuck with that. When we started playing live, it was just my girlfriend and I. Now we play as a four piece.

Q. Who are Moonbeams influences?
A - I am specifically influenced by albums I always look for in the record shops but can never seem to find...shoegaze bands like Lilys, Swirlies, Slowdive, the Telescopes, Astrobrite, Secret Shine and Skywave. I am also influenced by 1990s indie pop...the Field Mice, the Cranberries, the La's, the Sundays, Rocketship, Belle & Sebastian, etc.

Q. Tell us about the process of recording the debut ep?
A - I have an old 4-track tape recorder that I used for the EP. I recorded most of it in my bedroom. The 4-track is usually broken, resulting in one track being quieter than the others, or it will randomly turn off while I'm using it. It's frustrating, but I think it has a lot of personality.

Q. How was the shows?
A - The shows are fun. We are so much louder and intense live than we are recorded. The musicians that I play with are my best friends too, so it's very rewarding.

Q. What´s your opinion about shoegazer classic era?
A - Classic shoegazer era...I love bands like My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, but I have always liked Slowdive the most. They definitely have a big influence on the music I make.

Q. Which new bands you recommended?
A - New bands I recommend...A Place to Bury Strangers, Tears Run Rings, the Fauns, Darker My Love, Ceremony, The 1959 Hat Company, I heard the Vandelles the other day and they sounded pretty cool.

Q. What´s the plans for future?
A - I plan on recording more and more! I'm going to try to put out an LP.

O tal album chama-se There´s Something Warm e é um choque sua audição, um verdadeiro massacre noise em alta rotação sem tempo para se respirar. O vocal neuroticamente gritado dá o tom exato para as estridentes guitarras e o wall of sound que carrega o album do inicio ao fim.

Morningrise with Dreamtiger

A história é a seguinte, conheci essa maravilha chamada Dreamtiger através de uma recomendação dos caras do Everness, dai meu amigos, ouvir o debut do Dreamtiger é resgatar o lado etereo, magico, candido, denso e submerso a inumeros delays, mesmo porque a abertura deste magistral Ep de estréia intitulado Glisten já mostra qual é a fonte principal destes californianos, Heard Inside the Sun é um convite ao mistério das camadas de delays, com uma vocalização magica, oras pelo guitarrista e também vocalista James Meetze oras pela doce e angelical voz de Desiree Cooper, para os ouvidos mais desatentos a audição do Dreamtiger pode ser facilmente confundida com os mestres Neil & Rachel do Slowdive/Mojave 3 que são logicamente a principal referência do Dreamtiger. Tesouros como Waves and Tides, Fragile Girl não são tão facilmente encontrados por ai. Recomenda-se audição imediata e repetida, em carater prioritario.

Magical Spring with Everness

Ouvir Everness é sentir aquele climão sessentista com roupagem indie rock, e fortes doses de guitarras melodicas, vendo toda a caracteristica do som é impossivel não lembrar da obra maxima desta sonoridade que atende pelo nome de Carnival of Light do seminal Ride, dai a evidência e principalmente a reverência que os caras do Everness fazem ao Ride, tanto no primeiro EP que você pode conferir aqui nos colegas e agora no recente Everness 2nd EP, que mantém o nivel do primeiro EP e encharca definitivamente a psicodelia melodica de Byrds, Kinks, Statos Quo e desce a guitarreira indie rock sob o nome de Eating Our Dust, que deixara Andy Bell e Mark Gardener com sorrisos de ponta a ponta, dai vem High, vocalização rideana/byrdiana no limite melodicamente perfeita, na sequencia a sugestiva Barret com um riff altamente grudento e mais guitarras permeiam esta gema indie psicodelica com ecos fortissimos do saudoso Church, para fechar Learning to Run muda o jeitão 60´s e da velocidade e o lado shoegazer do Everness vem a tona com uma pegada a´la Swervedriver, sensacional.

Black Metallic by Catherine Wheel

Esta semana tem sido basicamente tensa e tortuosa, mal deu tempo de estar por aqui e escrever, mas a ausência as vezes é compensada por algo intocavel e que as vezes sem explicação acontece, desde segunda feira tenho viajado pelo interior de sampa e meu acompanhante foi um album basicamente acima de qualquer suspeita, um INTOCAVEL na realidade, algo magistral e que tornou-se atemporal e fundamental para o exercicio de noise, texturas, guitarras, poesia, melancolia e shoegazer no talo em alto e bom som, o fato é que meu acompanhamente foi o Ferment do Catherine Wheel, precisa falar mais alguma coisa??

Precisa, logico, a 120, 140 km por hora em estradas ela faz pleno sentido, já nos primeiros acordes de Texture já da para entender o porque o album é superior, Rob Dickinson, vocais e guitarra, Brian Futter, guitarras, Dave Hawes, baixo, e Neil Sims, bateria fazem o shoegazer chegar no limite do noise e pop ao mesmo tempo, carregados de poesia e melancolia graças ao Sr Dickinson, sobrenome que soa familiar não, pois é o cara é primo do famigerado Bruce Dickinson de um tal de Iron Maiden, inclusive quando fiquei sabendo disso, fiquei até meio receoso, mas já nos primeiros eps, que alias são essenciais, já me apaixonei mortalmente principalmente pelos guitarras ruidosas de Brian Futter que na minha opinião é um dos melhores guitarristas de sua geração.

O Ferment é um desfile de musicas que fogem a qualquer rotulo de classicas, essenciais e o que mais possam falar, é algo intocavel, para se ter uma ideia, quando do lançamento de Black Metallic, os criticos diziam que ela era nada mais nada menos que o a Stairway to Heaven da geração shoegazer, só que ao contrario da criação de Page & Plant, Black Metallic é devastadoramente ruidosa e candida a perfeição em forma de musica, o mesmo acontece com as fantasicas I Want to Touch e She´s my Friend que devem facilmente entrar nas melhores musicas da decada de 90, mas Ferment ainda contém perolas esculpidas de forma colossalmente noise e sonhadora como as popissimas Shallow e Flowers to Hide, sem contar nas viagens transcendentais ao fundo do amor que são Indigo is Blue e Ferment.

O som das guitarras e a voz de Dickinson conduzem o tenue fio da muralha ensurdecedora do noise até o mais cristalino dedilhado, Ferment é eterno, e para isso eu digo, Ferment é INTOCAVEL.

Like a Daydream with Youngteammusic - An Interview with Fredrik Liljequist

Sem muitos rodeios, eu fiquei fascinado desde a primeira audição da musica Your Love e Tokyo que consegui vasculhando pelo Soul Seek e pelas inumeras audições que fiz na pagina dos caras no Myspace, shoegazer, dream pop, psicodelia 60´s tudo em perfeita sincronia entre espaço e mundo real, essa estupenda banda vinda da Suecia é magistralmente obrigatoria, seu nome Youngteammusic, a estreia datada de 2006 atende pelo nome de Missnojesbandet, que além das preciosas Your Love e Tokyo, deve ser apreciado na integra sem intervalos para que não se perca um detalhe sequer, porque albuns como este não se fazem todos os dias.

Tentei achar por inumeras lojas conseguir o album fisico, mas este já se esgotou, todavia me contendo com o arquivo em mp3 que foi uma cortesia dos amantes dos bons sons Miguel e Tadeu via Amor Louco, dai acabamos mais uma vez entrando naquela sintonia que já virou rotina entre nós, mas na data que postaram o album, eu estava fechando uma entrevista que me deu um enorme prazer de ter feito, primeiro pela grande receptividade de Fredrik Liljequist, dono e mentor do Youngteammusic e também pela imensa gentileza de me adiantar demos do que vira a ser o novo album da banda, mas essas ainda devem ficar guardadas só entre amigos, heheheh, me desculpem, é fato que Mr. Fredrik é um grande cara, gente bonissima, vale ressaltar que o contato imediato com o Youngteammusic foi facilitado pelo ilustre Scott Causer que foi nada mais nada menos o cara que inaugurou a sessão entrevista aqui no blog, então sem mais rodeios, Sras, e Srs, Mr Fredrik Liljequist.

Q.When did Youngteammusic starts, tell us about the beginning…
A - Youngteam started playing at the end of 2005 i think, back then it was only me and Peter and Jesper...and some friends helping out (like Anna Järvinen etc).

It all started cause i hade some songs that i wanted to record, song that i´ve had in my mind for a very long time, and asked Peter if he wanted to start a band with me.

We wanted to do more noisy stuff, more shoagazy music with a twist of psych...but we wanted to do it our own way, the way that we want music to sound like.

Theese songs made the first youngteam EP, "Missnöjesbandet". The title of the album came up as a joke by Isak from Speedmarket Avenue, cause we were all playing in different bands at that time, and he said we werent happy with that so we started a missnöjes band = dissatisfaction band....haha.

After we released that Ep (through Northern Star Records only) were started to play more like a band, writing new material, playing a lot together, doing shows, recording more stuff...Johan joined us on Guitar and later on Mattias on bass. Youngteam were completed and devoloped our own kinda thing, and we also skipped the -music, and changed name to just youngteam.

Q.Who are the influences from the band?
A- My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Mogwai, Sonic Youth...and others.
Mostly 90´s Shoegaze bands and a lot of the 60´s psych i guess are the main influences. Also Stones, Led Zep, Early Status Quo, Cult Of Luna.

Q. Tell us about the process of recording Missnojesbandet?
A - Actually that EP were recorded by Peter and me at our rehearsal all by ourself. It was recorded during the summer in 2005 and we had nothing else to do but being in the rehearsal studio recording and drinking.

I had some songs, sometimes only an idea, and we just started to record it...didnt have a clue how its gonna end - we just let it happen.

Some friends came buy to help us on some songs, and that was it....pure fun. Nowdays its little more prepared.

Q. Tell us about the prescent Swedish scene from shoegazing bands…
A - There isnt really are scene for shoegazing in Sweden, very small one if so...wich is to bad!!!
There are some few minor clubs and bands, but its not easy to get shows for shoegaze band i think, not at the big clubs...too noisy and loud i guess, and for people who dont like it may sounds like noise with to low vocals.

There are some good bands here though, Radio Dept, The Early Days, Mixtapes and cellmates, Aerial, de la mancha.

Q. Which bands you love to made a cover version?
A - I often think of that, dunno...maybe good times bad times by led zeppelin???

The best cover i´ve ever heard someone do is Fleeting Joys Cover of Bob Dylans Masters Of War - BRILLIANT!!!!

Q. Which new bands you recommended?
A - Im really bad looking up new bands to be honest, and mostly listen to the stuff ive always been listening to. Bands that i do like nowdays and i think you should check out is, Fleeting Joys, The Early Days, December Sound, Soundpool, Asteroid #4, A place to bury strangers, de la mancha.

Q. What´s the plans for future?new records, a tour….
A- We are right now at the end of finishing our debut album, 12 songs i think it will be in the end. We have been working on that album in periods, started recording in about 2 years ago and then did nothing for about a year for some reason i dunno...

We have recorded it with the Producer Mattias Glavå in Gothenburg. I believe we have taken our music to the next level with this one, hard to descibe though but...a lot of melankoli, darkness, psychadelic, 12 string guitars, melotron..lot of downtuned guitars, and shoegaze influences....were very very happy with the results!! Hopefully it will be out soon. After that we will focus on play live as much as we can.

Q. Any order important thing to tell us…
A - We got in touch with Scott Causer from Northern Star Records right after we had recorded our first EP. We love many of the bands that have vorked with him, and what he was doing for the scene - so it was the only way to go to contact him. He is a true psych/gaze lover, and maybe one of the most dedicated persons to music ive ever met, and doing a nice job spreading good music.

Were very proud to be apart of that.

Estilo e classe são elementos que associados acabam por configurar algo intocavel e acima de qualquer suspeita, exemplos clássicos que vem a mente facilmente são: Roxy Music, David Bowie, os seguidores New Order, Orange Juice, Go-Betweens passando por House of Love, Felt, Pale Saints e assim vai, é nesse ambiente que a fonte de inspiração desta perola, alias outra vinda de Austin, Texas, que vem fazer companhia aos inspirados She, Sir e Eaves, é fato que o Low Line Caller tem um padrão de criação e qualidade de fazer o queixo cair, o belissimo debut Hi Def Soft Core, um EP na realidade, e que EP hein, sem exceção, tem que ouvir do inicio ao fim e repetir por algumas vezes para tentar eleger qual a canção mais perfeita dentre as maravilhosas, Built Over Gasoline, Heartstrings Playing Notes, Over the Counter Kids, Killing Cool, Anderson Junction e Thief, tarefa dificilima, mas a perfeição de Killing Cool é fascinante, todas as nuances, o clima pos punk e new romantic atrelado ao dreampop cool e calmo cativa, nos restando a admiração plena, tamanha a sensação de sonhos que o Low Line Caller exala neste lindo EP, o amor e a beleza pairam na audição completa, indispensavel.

E a partir dai, começamos a trocar vários emails, sobre inumeros assuntos, dentre gostos musicais, shows e outros mais, e logicamente o EP White Splinter, segundo registro dos ingleses, que flutua literamente no espaço, com guitarras em cascata oras cristalinas e limpidas oras brutalmente ensurdecedoras fazendo o deleite dos aficcionados em delays e viagens intergalacticas, e o clima vai e embriagando desde a magnifica abertura com Descent Pattern e chegando ao apice lisergico na longa, densa e climatica 11:43, o clima vem mais tenro com a soberda Broken, um como se Jason Pierce e Dean Waheram estivessem basicamente fazendo uma serenata para Syd Barret, algo sublime eu diria, e fechando majestosamente a intensa Wipe the Sun off Your Shoes.

Q. Why Electric Assembly?
Well, we came together through a shared love of similar music, films and sense of humour. All of us were already playing music in some capacity before the band started, but none of it was serious. As close friends, it just seemed like a natural progression to start a band together. The name 'Electric Assembly' came about after hundreds of other suggestions - but we just liked the way it looked on the page and how it sounded.

Q. When the bands start?
Electric Assembly was born on Halloween night of 2004 but our roots go back a little deeper. In a previous incarnation we had music released on the sadly now defunct Earworm records.

Q. Tell us about your influences...
While the more obvious influences would be Spacemen 3, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, early Mercury Rev, Harmonia - we also love music by Boards of Canada, Clark, Angelo Badalementi, Can, James Brown, Steve Reich...the list is endless. We would also have to include films by directors such as Werner Herzog, Monte Hellman, David Lynch, Gaspar Noé; books by Philip K. Dick, Bret Easton Ellis, William Burroughs, Haruki Murakami; art works by Yayoi Kusama, Adam Neate, Jackson Pollock and the relationships we have with our family and friends. We don't know if any of these examples can be clearly identified in the music we make, but we certainly would not be the same band without them.

Q. How Electric Assembly feels playing alive?
Maybe nervous euphoria? It's a bit like going on the scariest ride at a fair - you're not sure how safe it is, or if you're going to like it - but something compels you to do it anyway. Then once it's over you're on a real natural high and can't wait to get back on.

The best moments are always the ones that are spontaneous and unrehearsed – when something new and magical emerges from what we're playing. Live is often when songs we’ve been working on finally reach their peak.

Q. How was the shows?
Instead of just playing a bunch of separate songs thrown together, we generally try to make our gigs flow into one trip or 'soundtrack' if you like. Whilst we believe the songs work individually and in their own space - we like to make the gig experience a bit more special than that. We sometimes work with our friend and film maker Lux who does visual projections for the gigs - these have always been the most fun shows for us. But when we're playing without the visuals, we like to think people use their ears to experience the music and not their eyes.

Q. What´s your opinion about shoegazer classc era?
It was a time for beautiful and crazy guitar sounds, perhaps the final era in the electric guitar’s evolution. Certainly it was a time when digital combined with analogue technology bringing the electric guitar somewhere fresh and new.

Q. What´s your opinion about the new shoegazer era?
We're suspicious of anyone deliberately trying to sound exactly like they come from the past. Having said that there are many bands, artists and producers using the sounds of that time as inspiration for something exciting today. Boards of Canada’s Geogaddi was like this decade’s Loveless. To us it represents a similar approach to sound and mood. We're not so into bands who sound exactly like the old shoegaze bands, we would rather go back and listen to the early Ride/Slowdive/Swervedriver/Moose eps.

Q. Which bands you like actually?
Current acts we're into would include Animal Collective, My Bloody Valentine, Do Make Say Think, Deerhunter, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Jim O'Rourke, Magnolia Electric Company, Twilight Sad.

Q. Tell us about the eps? When the album is coming?
The first EP was recorded and put together over a really long period of time. As it was our first release we were all a bit apprehensive about making our first 'musical statement' as a band - so many bands seem to get boxed or labelled by their first release. So we took a lot of time recording and making sure the mastering by Kramer was as good as it could be. We realised that working in this overly cautious way wasn't much fun, so made a pact that we would never go down that route again.

There was quite a gap between that and our second EP 'White Splinter', but that was more to do with us spending time on writing new songs and just getting better as a band. The actual recording, choosing of songs and artwork all came together fairly quickly once we decided we wanted to release another EP and we think the music is much better for it.

We haven't really spoken about releasing an album yet as we're not even sure if that format is really relevant as an artform any more. A lot of albums that have been released over the past few years seem to dilute the aesthetic of the band. That's not to say there aren't albums that we all love or that we would never record one ourselves - we would just have to feel like the time was right. The EP format seems to work best for us at the moment.
