Frosting on a Beater with Divehoney - An Interview

***** Interview with Divehoney *****

Q. When did divehoney started, tell us about the history...
Started out in 2013 in Stockholm/Sweden, first as a side project, then became became more and more of a main project. Divehoney is a one man solo band. At first a sound experiment platform, a place for different moods with simple melodies ... and it turned out pretty well.

Q: Who are your influences?
Influences come from all over. Mainly film and film music. Trent Reznor and NIN is also huge influence in the art of making noise and in the way they build their songs and sounds. Grunge, swedish indie may also have something to do with Divehoney sounds.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Woow, this is gonna sound weird, but at the top of my mind:

The Posies - Frosting on a beater
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Foo Fighters - 1st
Def Leppard - Pyromania
My Bloodie Valentine - Loveless

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Planning on putting a live act together with some co musicians later this year. Probably a three peice covering bass, guitars, pads and keys. Some back track also. But live should be a little bit different from studio:) So I'll have to get back about that:)

Q. How do you describe divehoney sounds?
Starkly engaging and hauntingly beautiful. Fuzz and delicate vocals with grunge melodies and chords with a dreamy feel.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Always starts with simple acoustic guitar chords and a vocal idea. Then the song takes a journey in beat, sound and feel. Putting in a lot of experimental time by just doing or using equipment/tools the wrong way or a way they wasn't supposed to. Quite a long process but the result is always far beyond what you imagined the song would be at first.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Courtney Barnett, Refused & Pale Honey (also cool name ha ha:-)

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Depeche mode - Walking in my shoes or maybe I feel you (there are some good albums there by the way)

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Getting the three peice together, playing som shows in Sweden and Scandinavia and getting the 1st EP out.

Q: Any parting words?
Working on some new stuff and will let you know when that happens. And, write something of your own reflections on Divehoney:)
