ACIMA.
***** Interview with The Holy Cosmos *****
1. When did The Holy Cosmos started, tell us about the history...
We met on internet at Spacemantra and then in person at a show when we were two different bands. Ernesto and Marco were Voyager 2, and Rita, Juan, Fabián y Josué were Neutle! Then we had some jams and, at some point at the end of 2013, we agreed to join as one band. After that, our first EP, the THC/VC Split, showed up as a revelation: the universe is sustained by you.
2. Who are your influences?
Dead Skeletons, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Neu!,The Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, The Warlocks, Sonic Youth, Bardo Pond, MBV… krautrock ♥
3. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
Dead Magick
Taking drugs to make music to take drugs to
The Velvet Underground & Nico
Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request
Heavy Deavy Skull Lover (in no particular order)
4. How do you feel playing live?
Playing live is a fundamental part to us. It’s important and quite great stand by someone at the moment when they realize your music exists. It’s awesome to see/feel the reaction of the people who listen to the sound that we transmit. We love playing shows and getting to know other bands, it's like exploring the space. Hopefully soon someone will donate a van to the band so we can tour…
5. How do you describe The Holy Cosmos sounds?
Motoric. Continual. Dinamic. Mantric.
6. Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
Someone comes up with an idea and that’s the beginning of one song. Or maybe not. There are a bunch of riffs and beats dying and growing up all the time, there is a lot of rehearsal in order to get exactly the sound we want until we finally have a song. Then comes the part of saving some money to pay a decent studio. By the way, our THC/VC Split was recorded and mixed by ourselves, just like every other has to. The process.
7. Which new bands do you recommended?
Vintage Cucumber • Oceanss • Has a Shadow • TAU • Hurricane Heart Attacks (in no particular order)
8. Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Dead Skeletons.
9. What´s the plans for future....
Fill the space with music. Finish the thesis of our guitarist Marco.
10. Any parting words
Muito obrigado, Renato/TBTCI, the pleasure is ours! With love from México, the navel of the Moon.
