Lady Godiva´s Operation with Grass on The Sun - An Interview

O duo italiano Grass on The Sun, é daquelas gratas e barulhentas surpresas.

***** Interview with Grass on The Sun *****

Q. When did Grass on The Sun starts, tell us about the history...
Ale:Me and Gab began recording under the name Grass On The Sun about a year ago… We met right after college and we played together in a pretty weird noise-freeform band for sometimes in the early 2000’s and recorded tons of really really unlistenable tape cassettes(laughs)… haven’t seen each other for about 4 years than we met again at a party in 2012 and began recording covers for fun with friends at home…really cool stuff came out and here we are!

Q: Who are your influences?
Gab: for me at the moment is mostly about everything done by Jason Pierce and Sonic Boom in the late eighties, early Sonic Youth Stuff…Jesus and Mary Chain… Ale:uhm let me think: Velvet Underground…Velvet Underground and Velvet Underground!(laughs) a part from that I would say Jamc of course, early Verve…Spiritualized…

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
1) THE VELVET UNDERGROUND / The Velvet Underground & Nico
2) THE VELVET UNDERGROUND / White Light/White Heat
3) THE VELVET UNDERGROUND / The Velvet Underground
5) THE VELVET UNDERGROUND / 1969: The Velvet Underground Live

Q. How do you describe Grass on the Sun sounds?
Gab: mind puzzling space sex drone noise! (laughs)

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Gab: Typically it all begins with me programming some really fucked up drum beat…then Ale: would come with some killer guitar riff, fucking around a bit with it, then I would start freestyling some paranoid and nonsense vocals just to set the mood and begin building the songs emotionally….

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Ale:…the vickers and go!zilla are really interesting acts…saw them live a couple of times this year….really really cool stuff

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Gab: We use to record cover versions of songs we like almost every time we meet in our studio just to warm up and set the mood of the session… at the moment we’re working on a really cool one….we won’t say the title…you’ll see (laughs)

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Gab: Put out our next single Scratch My Itch that will be available on band camp very soon as a free download… Ale: right now we are working on a killer featuring for our next single but we won’t say nothing more….it’s a surprise

Q: Any parting words?
record record record have fun and most importantly PLAY WITH YOUR FUCKING HEART!
Thanks guys
