Decadence with White Night Ghosts - An Interview

***** Interview with White Night Ghosts *****

Q. When did the White Night Ghosts start, tell us about the history...
*A. In 2011, after the split of my band, I began to record songs in my room. I recorded and published 2 demos between 2011 and 2012 under the name of White Night Ghosts. The name came from a song which a friend of mine wrote when he was really bad. However the project began in 2013 with the recording of my JOY EP, mixed by my friend Joris Saïdani (who plays Drums in the Post-Rock band Corbeaux). The EP has been released by Cranes Records, a great French label. Few months ago I released Decadence Remixes, a compilation of remixes of my track, Decadence, by great bands like Bloody Knives, Suffering Astrid, Promise and lot more. Now I'm making Remixes for the bands that I love: Dani Shivers, Hermetic Delight and Like The Stargazer Lilies, I will release this soon and continue to make remixes for other bands. Above all I'm working on a new EP and preparing a live set.

Q: Who are your influences?
*A. Slowdive, Deerhunter, Trust, Crystal Castles, My Bloody Valentine, Screen Vinyl Image, The Soft Moon, No Joy, Gasaffelstein, Fuck Buttons, Marilyn Manson, M83, Suuns, Cocteau Twins, Working For A Nuclear Free City, A Place To Bury Strangers, Unison, Salem, The December Sound, SPC Echo, Bauhaus and lot more...

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
*A. 5 is not enough but...
Slowdive - Souvlaki
Trust - TRST
Bowery Electric - Bowery Electric
Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar
Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone

Q. How do you feel playing alive?
*A. I haven't played for a while, and I miss it a lot ! I'm working with a friend on a live set, also trying to make something visual for the live (I'm a student in Digital Arts), I want to make a great show.

Q. How do you describe White Night Ghosts´ sounds?
*A. I just can say that the new EP will be in the vein of our track Decadence. It sounds like when you are in a strange night club, doing a party to enjoy all the bad things in life; kind of exorcism. By the way the name of this EP will be Exorcism Party, it will be released in few months.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
*A. It's never been the same but most of the time I begin by the drums and the bass, then I write lyrics, and after that I create the wall of sound, according to a lot of importance of the structures.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
*A. The Post Rock band Corbeaux who just released a new album, Nothing and their fucking amazing album Guilty Of Everything and a great young french guy who play under the name of Lifestep's Collection.

Q: Which bands you love to make a cover version?
*A. I don't really want to make some covers but anyway I would like to remix Jesse Ruins, Unison and Be Forest.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
*A. Finish my 5 tracks new EP and begin to play live, can't wait. I would like to make a music video too.

Q: Any parting words?
*A. Be ready for the Exorcism Party.
