Congratulations with The Golden Dregs - An Interview

***** Interview with The Golden Dregs

Q. When did The Golden Dregs start? Tell us about the history...
It started as a collaborative recording project around 4 years a go, and has started to find its feet as a band more in recent months

Q: Who are your influences?
I think each musician in the band will have their own personal influences, and these come together when we are playing together, but there is no real shared influence. I guess we influence each other too. A lot of what we do comes from finding enjoyment in playing with one another

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
That really is an impossible task. I guess our list of the five greatest albums of all time wouldn't be that different to what you'd find in Rolling Stone or similar, and would perhaps be dominated by records that we love but that perhaps had the advantage of large budgets, new technology and fresh ears (Pet Sounds, Abbey Road etc...). So I've twisted the question and will provide you with a list of 5 of the greatest musicians/songwriters of all time

Nina Simone
Gil Scot Heron
Bob Dylan
Leonard Cohen
Link Wray

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Often rejected, sometimes uncomfortable, and on rare occasions liberated

Q. How do you describe The Golden Dregs sounds?
Garage Americana from the ass end of the U.K.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We recorded our first album in Troubador studios in Falmouth. We spent two days recording most of it live, and then overdubbed the vocals and some other bits later. But in a lot of respects it was a live studio record. The next album will probably be different

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
All our friends make amazing music, it's inspiring. We just played with Duds from Manchester, they're really one of the best live bands right now.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We already do a cover of a Gorgeous Bully track, it would be cool to do more. I like the concept of doing covers albums, Blood on the Tracks (Dylan) or Loaded (Velvet Underground) would be really sweet

Q: What are your plans for the future?
I guess the next step is finding a means of releasing the album we have recorded. It would be nice to be able to keep on making music

Q: Any parting words?
We'd love to come and play in Brazil...
