Move Slow with XLVR - An Interview

***** Interview with XLVR *****

Q. When did XLVR start? Tell us about the history...
XLVR has been a project we've been working on for quite some time. It initially started with Chris and Aaron taking a trip up to northern Michigan in early Summer a few years ago. We stayed up there for 5 days and created the foundation of several of our first songs including 'Undertow'. It was an amazing experience where we were lucky enough to see the northern lights hovering over Lake Superior.

Q: Who are your influences?
We have a variety of influences including a lot of neo soul bands and 80s pop, throwing in some funk as well. We really love blasting Whitney Houston around the house.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
There's no way we could pick just 5 albums, but here are some of our favorites:
Warpaint - Warpaint
Michael Jackson - Thriller
The Weeknd - Trilogy
Tycho - Awake
Alt-J - An Awesome Wave

Q. How do you feel playing live?
We are just now starting to rehearse for our first round of live shows as XLVR so we are really looking forward to that!

Q. How do you describe XLVR sounds?
Funky bass, dreamy piano, classic guitar licks and pop vocal hooks.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We produce all our music ourselves and it involves long hours writing and recording in our home studio. Usually one of us comes to the group with a skeleton of a song and everyone provides their input until it's perfect.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Persona La Ave, FM-84, Ten Fe, and Tuxedo

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Don't Disturb This Groove by The System

Q: What are your plans for the future?
We really just want to put out as much music as we possibly can. We are almost finished with our second and third EPs and we are releasing those in the coming months. We are also hoping to start playing shows this Summer.

Q: Any parting words?
Thank you so much for listening and we really appreciate all your kind feedback! Be on the lookout for more music soon!
