Away From Here with Post Attraction - An Interview

***** Interview with Post Attraction *****

Q. When did Post Attraction start? Tell us about the history...
A: It all began when our singer and guitarist, Richard, met our drummer, Luis, while playing local shows in previous bands. With similar musical tastes and a lot of experience in the San Diego music scene, they soon started jamming out on their spare time and recording music with local producer and friend, Kenji. The band had been looking for a bassist, so I (Brandon) took a chance and auditioned. I grew up with Richard on Guam and we had history playing together in a punk band in high school. As we continued to work with Kenji, he liked the music so much he ended up joining the band, taking up keys and guitar.

Q: Who are your influences?
A: Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Soda Stereo, Chameleons, alcohol and marijuana

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time… A: In no particular order...
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies
The Cure - Wish
Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas

Q. How do you feel playing live?
A: We've only been together less than a year and just had our first show on Valentines Day (2/14/16). It was a lot of fun and we're really excited to start playing more and eventually tour!

Q. How do you describe Post Attraction sounds?
A: Dream Punk! Post-punk, New Wave, Shoegaze, etc.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Our music is 100% DIY - self produced by Kenji, with the help of the rest of the band, of course. We own all of our recording equipment, which lets us be flexible with time and money. Overall we have a great time doing it!

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
A: Drab Majesty, Chromatics, Prayers, Ghost, Twilight Sad, Beliefs

Q: Which band would you love to make a cover version of?
A: New Order - Lonesome Tonight
Kim Carnes - Betty Davis Eyes
Rod Stuart - Young Turks

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: We plan on finishing up our first full length album by the end of the year and just want to get more shows under our belt. We're stoked to create more music and share it with anyone who cares to listen.

Q: Any parting words?
A: Be excellent to each other!
