Ride Into The Sun with The Stammer - An Interview

***** Interview with The Stammer *****

Q. When did The Stammer started, tell us about the history...
We started as a side project of mine when I was a part of another band. When that band broke up we decided to use those songs as the basis for The Stammer.

Q: Who are your influences?
Our influences are The Velvet Underground, The Walkmen, Spoon, and Joy Division. Whenever I get stuck writing a song, the first thing I think is what would Lou Reed do?

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
The Velvet Underground & Nico
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
The Walkmen - Bows and Arrows David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust

Q. How do you feel playing live?
We love to play live but have been cooped up the last year recording an album. The new album will be out in about two months, so we are excited to play a lot of shows this summer.

Q. How do you describe The Stammer sounds?
Driving bass, reverbed-out guitar, tight drums, and deadpan vocals. Our last single was very post-punk, but our new music sounds more like The Smiths by way of Lou Reed.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
So far we've recorded everything on our own at our practice spot into the computer. For the first time, we are working with a studio for the mixing of our upcoming album, This Winter. The great thing about recording on your own its cheap, and you have plenty of time to experiment. However, the bad thing is that it takes forever!

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
There are a lot of new bands in Philadelphia that are great. Likers, Blood Sound, Mock Suns, Polar Ice Cap, Bondage & Discipline, Creepoid, and Cayetana are just a few.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We played a Halloween show a few years ago where we played five Joy Division songs. That was one of my favorite shows. You can listen to a song 1,000 times but when you cover it its like listening to it with a microscope. You can hear it a lot better.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We are excited to release our first full album this summer and to start recording the next one by August.

Q: Any parting words?
Thanks for talking with us, it has been a pleasure. Tchau! -Brian
