Para o TBTCI o Afraid of Stairs é predileto, e faz tempo.
***** Interview with Afraid of Stairs *****
Q. When did Afraid of Stairs tarted, tell us about the history...
A: Afraid of Stairs started as a side-project in 2012. I (Pontus) was playing in two other bands but I wrote two songs that didn't fit in anywhere. So I teamed up with the drummer from one of those bands (Douglas Heart) and we got a deal with Labrador records to release those two songs on vinyl, Not Today and Empathy. After that we started working on more material. Including the recording, the EP took a few years to get done. But instead of releasing it we were dropped by Labrador, later Lavendel Records released it. After a while two songs were recorded at home and put up on Soundcloud, Charts and Fight the Fall. Moving forward we got aquainted with Dufflecoat Records who've been kind enough to release our music.
Q: Who are your influences?
A: Lot's of people/bands. But it's subjective. if a listener feels we are influenced by a certain group, who are we to argue? Everyone hears their own thing.
Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
A: The Jesus And Mary Chain - Psychocandy,
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless,
Marvin Gaye - What's Goin on,
The Velvet Underground - Loaded,
Popsicle - Lacquer.
Q. How do you feel playing live?
A: Over 10 years we've only done three live shows. It was interesting. I usually get more excied about the prospect of playing live then I am during a show. Too many variables to consider to make it 100% enjoyable.
Q. How do you describe Afraid of Stairs ounds?
A: We sound like the bands we have, and are currently, listening to. But reocurring sounds are distorted guitars and reverb.
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
A: We've done recording everything at a studio, recording at rehearsal space, recording parts at home, and recording everything at home. It depends on the current situation/what makes sense for the song/s.
Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
A: Westkust
Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
A: Nothing comes to mind at the moment. Did enjoy making a cover of Slowdive's Allison with a previous band. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aXllHuabdg)
Q: What´s the plans for future....
A: At the moment we are on hiatus. I've moved to a different city, but we'll see what happens in the future.
Q: Any parting words?
A: Be kind to others and stay safe.
