***** Interview with Blacksalt *****

Q. When did Blacksalt started, tell us about the history…
A. Blacksalt started in the summer of 2014. Through a mutual friend's suggestion, Beth Murphy and I met each other and started talking about a new music project. Beth had been in some really heavy bands before and used to teach drumline, so she has crafted a really unique sound. I was more of a solo musician my whole life. I had been writing acoustic songs for about a decade, but never really found an outlet for them. Playing with Beth for the first time opened the flood gates of inspiration. We were on the same wavelength since day 1.

Q: Who are your influences?
A. They are really all over the place. We tend to think of inspiration like a buffet; picking little bits from all over and combining them into one. Adams: The Smiths, Elliott Smith, Neil Young, Hop Along, Leonard Cohen, Waxahatchee, Jose Gonzalez

Beth's: the used, Lydia, deftones, Damien rice, vampire weekend, brand new.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
A. Adam:
1. Metallica - Master of Puppets
2. Neil Young - Harvest
3. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
4. The Smiths - Meat is Murder
5. Daniel Johnston - Yip Jump Music

Beth:
1. Maybe memories, the used
2. The everglow, Mae
3. Saturday night wrists, deft ones
4. The bird and the bee self titled
5. Maya, M.I.A

Q. How do you feel playing live?
A. Adam: Like a tightrope walker. I'm typically trembling for the first song or so, but once we get a few minutes into the set the energy takes over and I forget about the show and the possibility of errors.

Beth: Playing live: I love it! I get nervous before hand but after the first song I don't want to stop playing.

Q. How do you describe Blacksalt sounds?
A. Heavy sounds with soft words.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
A. Drums then guitar then vocals. We record very quickly. Having only two members makes things run really smooth.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
A. Adam: Cayetana, Hop Along, Radiator Hospital, Porches, Girlpool

Beth: carved up, Moon tooth, Cave of swimmers, Laser Jackson, Dryjacket

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
A. We currently do a live cover of Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy". Adam: I would really love to do a cover of Madonna's "Like a Prayer" Beth:the cranberries, salvation, Robots in disguise, turn it up

Q: What´s the plans for future….
A. In the summer we'll be planning to get in the studio again to record our first full length album, and do some touring.

Q: Any parting words?
A. Be kind to animals.
