Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space....Again with The Wise Dude´s Revolver - An Interview

Peace, love and psych

***** Interview with The Wise Dudes´s Revolver *****

Q. When did The Wise Dudes starts, tell us about the history...
Most of the guys have known each other for a very long time (from high school, neighborhood and so one...). Cyril (guitar/voice), Jérémy (guitar) and Clément (bass) were used to jam together, but at some point they wanted to get involved more seriously in a band. The band was borned really in the summer of 2012 with the arrival of Nicolas (drums). From that point we started to write songs and play in small bars and venues.

We recorded our first EP during the summer of 2013 and released it in september 2013. After that we had the chance to play bigger shows in our region or as support for bigger bands we love. We must say the end of 2013/beginning of 2014 has been very fruitful for us :)

Q: Who are your influences?
As every musician, we have a lot of different influences, because each of us listen and love a broad range of music styles and bands.

In our music, though, the most notable influences would be The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, Spiritualized, the Velvet Underground, and maybe Pink Floyd.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Very difficult question :-) Each of us picked one !
(ordered by date)

John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
The Velvet Underground - The VU and Nico
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Spiritualized -

Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
Dead Skeletons - Dead Magick

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Playing a live performance is amoung the best sensation you can feel. This is the real time the songs and your music are not only about you and your buddies but the rest of the world. Most of all, every show is very different from the others, and nothing is never going exactly the way you have planned !
In bigger venues, it is also the occasion to smash the drums/the guitars as hard as you want without driving the neighbors mad.

Q. How do you describe The Wise Dudes sounds?
Coming directly from the guts and the heart, with reverb, rather slow, usually with long crescendos and hypnotic patterns.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We recorded our first EP basically by ourself. We had the chance to borrow good quality microphones from a friend. Théo Cloux, our former keyboard player, recorded during three days, non stop, in the empty house of the late Cyril's grandma, wich is located nearby a nuclear power plant. This was a pretty intense week-end.

We were afterwards also able to record some tracks of timpani and gong because Nicolas, the drummer, was a member of the University's symphonic orchestra.
Finally, the mixing and the mastering was done by Philippe André, a friend of us and independent engineer in his home-studio.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Well, the psychedelic scene is so active that a lot of awesome bands are emerging each month.
Among many others, we would recommend Juleah (a solo Austrian artist), and White Glow (fellow French psychgazers).

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We don't usually do covers of other bands. However we did cover "White Light/WHite heat" and "What Goes On" By the Velvet Underground during a special event. We like to play these songs from time to time for encores or acoustic shows.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Many plans! We are going to release a video for our song Sailing Away, the 9th of March. After that, we are also going to tour south of France in the end of Avril/beginning of may.

Meanwhile, we are also writing new songs, rehearsing, creating new artworks and so one...

Q: Any parting words?
Enjoy ! Ruir !
