***** Interview with Make More *****
We started as a side project of our previous band with the intention to write simpler, less chaotic songs it took us a little while to get cracking, with people moving away, coming back, dramas, not dramas but after 5 years thinking about it and false starts we have just released our first record. Everything is going at a nice relaxing pace now.
Q: Who are your influences?
Superchunk, The Smiths, Sandpit, Haruki Murakami. Brisbane Roar.
Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
This is a difficult one, but collectively I'd say
Hood - Cold House,
Josef K - Only Fun In Town,
The Go Betweens - Spring Hill Fair,
North Of America - Brothers, Sisters
and The Smiths - S/T
Q. How do you feel playing live?
In preparation, anxious. Swiftly followed by amazing.
Q. How do you describe Make More sounds?
Too indie for punks, too punk for indies.
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
It was a drawn out but ultimately quick process, everything tracked live in 2 days with Donovan Miller in Brisbane, than vocals finished up about a year later.
Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
SO much good stuff happening in Australia its ridiculous.
Thigh Master, Oslow, Chelsea Bleach, Leavings, Ted Dansen With Wolves, ExPrince, Pansy, Mares.
Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Thats a secret...for now
Q: What are your plans for the future?
Recording and touring again before the end of the year. Keen for anything that happens after that! (Can we come play Brazil???)
Q: Any parting words?
Stay clean, surf mean!
