Upside Down with Devil Town - An Interview

***** Interview with Devil Town *****

Q. When did Devil Town starts, tell us about the history...
Devil Town is a solo project. I wrote a few of songs without any pretensions, in a break time with my other band (tannhäuser) where I play bass. Time after I decided to record songs with a friend in his studio and he asked me if I wanted to play in a show, so i had to look for a name.

Q: Who are your influences?
Well, there are influences very obvious like nineties shoegaze and noise: mbv, slowdive, jesus and mary chain or even cocteu twins. And other musicians like Daniel Johnston or Stephin Merrit, great composers in my opinion.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Choose a denitive list of albums That's impossible but I have five titles that was important for me:

1. Loveless - my bloody valentine
2. Pshycocandy - the jesus and mary chain
3. Get Lost - The Magnetic Fields
4. Lust lust lust - The Raveonettes
5. Low-life - New Order

Q. How do you fell playing live?
Playing live is an important part of creative process. I think that a song is not finished until you can have a feedback with people. Unfortunately, we haven't had too many opportunities to do that.

Q. How do you describe Devil Town sounds?
It's pop music with tonnes of reverbs.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Usually I use to record an idea that rounds my head and I loop it, then I look for the sound that I would like and in the end, I write lyrics about something this music inspires me.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Crocodiles or Nothing are international bands i liked, but there are many other in Spain: Gente joven, The Royal Landscaping Society or Miraflores for example.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
Cocteau Twins or Daniel Johnston, of course, are two examples of music I would like to cover and maybe I'll do it.

Q: What´s the plans for future...?
First, I'll record new songs and then I'll work in different ways to take that songs to a live show (it's hard to play in Spain).

Q: Any parting words?
Thanks a lot for your interest.
