***** Interview with Suzie True *****
Q. When did Suzie True begin? Tell us about the history...
I started writing the songs that made up Suzie True about 2 and a half years ago. It was only intended to be a solo bedroom project, but it formed into an actual band last summer when I moved to LA.
Q: Who are your influences?
A few of my influences for Suzie True are Alvvays, Best Coast, Peach Kelli Pop, Diet Cig, Wavves, The Total Bettys, Jeff Rosenstock, Mitski and Ty Segall.
Q. How do you feel playing live?
This is the first time I've been the front person of a band (I've always played drums in bands in the past) and it's super weird being up at the front. I used to get extremely anxious but every show it gets a little easier and I just focus on having fun.
Q. How do you describe Suzie True´s sounds?
I'm never sure how to describe our sound but I guess I would say garage pop.
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We recorded the EP we just put out in my house and it all was just really fun and natural.
Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Some bands that I love that are new to me at least are Illuminati Hotties, Racquet, and Car Talk.
Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
I'd love to cover Ty Segall or The Shangri-Las.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
We're starting recording our first album this month! Then just playing locally until we go on our first mini tour in January.
