Psiconáutica with Linda Guilala - An Interview

***** Interview with Linda Guilala *****

Q. When did Linda Guilala start? Tell us about the history..
Eva and I played in a Punk Pop band called Juniper Moon. We fell in love and we started to live together in Santiago de Compostela. We spent most of the afternoons making indie pop songs at home with an old multitrack. From those fist demos came up Linda Guilala. Then everything happened so fast, gigs, recordings...

Q: Who are your influences?
We love a lot of different things, 60´s bands, all the C-86, but also a lot of vintage electronic music and synth pop, darkwave, japanesse shoegaze... We try to listen to as much music as we can, no matter the release year or the origin country...

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Family "Un soplo en el corazon"
Grauzone "Grauzone"
O.M.D "Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark"
Silvania "En Cielo de Oceano"
The left banke "walk away renée/pretty ballerina"

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Sometimes happiness but sometimes fear...

Q. How do you describe Linda Guilala sounds?
I think we make noise pop songs, shoegazer songs, but pop in any case.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Well, Eva and I use to make everything in our home studio. Everything (composition, recording and mixing), except for the mastering process, is totally a Linda Guilala´s work.

Then, this last record was built in to different parts. The fist part was song composition and recording in a more classic way and the second part was working a lot at the studio where we have composed all the preludes, different noises and loops between songs. So the whole process of recording was different in some way this time. We have also started to work with Xavier Alarcon for the mastering and with Marco Maril (Apenino) who composed a bass line for one of the songs in this record.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
In Spain Monte Terror or Berlina, in Galicia Chicharron but there are lots of fantastic bands all over the world.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Grauzone, but we didn´t make it because we love and respect a lot that band and I think that we´d just ruin any of their songs...

Q: What are your plans for the future?
We would like to play as much as we can and we will try to go for the fist time to Latin America and do some gigs there.

Q: Any parting words?
We love As Mercenarias!!!
