Dream. Sleep. with Laveda - An Interview

***** Interview with Laveda *****

Q. When did Laveda begin? Tell us about the history...
“Laveda began about 2 years ago, in the summer of 2017 as a recording project between Ali and I. We started making bedroom demos of what were slower more singer-songwriter-esk sounding tracks that we had written, and then slowly the project began to naturally evolve into a much larger sounding shoegaze/dream pop noise rock.”

Q: Who are your influences?
“The Sundays, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, and Joy Division/New Order’s bassist Peter Hook, Wolf Alice, Bombay Bicycle Club, Yowler Sylvan Esso, Slowdive, Beach House, My Bloody Valentine, and Arcade Fire all have influenced Laveda’s sound. Also our producer Dylan Sky has been a huge influence on us and our roommates band called LONE PHONE BOOTH.”

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
“In no particular order:
I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose - Bombay Bicycle Club
Goo - Sonic Youth
Sylvan Esso - Sylvan Esso
Currents - Tame Impala
Slowdive - Slowdive

Q. How do you feel playing live?
“We actually have our first full band show this coming weekend and we are so insanely excited. Can’t wait to see how people react to our songs and our sound!”

Q. How do you describe Laveda´s sounds?
“Dreamy, at times noisey, melancholy indie rock in slow motion.”

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
"A typical day in the studio for us is laying out a game plan for what we’d like to focus on/accomplish and then take it step by step for tracking. Most of the songs we bring to the studio are almost completely structurally written or even already demo’d before we start recording them. There is always a ton of messing around and playing with new gear, guitar pedals, and synthesizers which can help us find more inspiration and direction in a new song. We honestly love the process and almost never want it to end!”

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
“Bruiser and Bicycle is an amazing new-ish band out of Albany NY! They just dropped a brand new record that is out of this world. We also love Hand Habits, Men I Trust, Yowler, and Shady Bug!

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
“Definitely Death Cab for Cutie. We’ve already started working on one of their songs for our live show!”

Q: What are your plans for the future?
“Release more music and hopefully go on tour this summer! We would love to travel internationally and play in places we’ve never been before to get our music out there and meet more amazing musicians.”

Q: Any parting words?
“Keep up with us, show dates, pure shenanigans and more on Instagram: @lavedamusic !! Keep
listening to music that makes you feel something. Thank you for listening to us!”
