Eclipse with Miss Rayon - An Interview

Pós punk torto, cerebral, funkeado, e completamente viciante.

Audição absolutamente necessária, simples assim.

***** Interview with Miss Rayon *****

Q. When did Miss Rayon begin? Tell us about the history...
Miss Rayon started as my solo songwriting project. I was playing with bands like Cat Hoch, Vexations, and Appendixes, and looking for somewhere to get my own ideas out. It was just a name for a soundcloud full of recordings for a year or so.

Q: Who are your influences?
Velvet Underground, Soft Boys, Wire, Breeders, ESG, Magazine, Kinks, Sonic Youth, MBV, Bowie, The Fall

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
MBV - Loveless,
Sonic Youth - Washing Machine,
Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society,
New Order - Power Corruption and Lies,
Bowie - Scary Monsters

Q. How do you feel playing live?
It's a great time.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
I used to write everything myself, multitracking drums, bass, guitar, keys, vocal harmonies, and then chopping it up to find a good structure. Those recordings are what evolved into the Cloudmaster EP. I started writing songs for Eclipse this way, but have worked collaboratively with the band more often. Eclipse was a song that started in Hannah's head. Jenny and I hashed it out with Hannah as a band. We recorded Eclipse at Destination:Universe! in Portland with this amazing guy, Victor. He was great to work with. Most of it was just live in the room, with vocal, guitar, and key overdubs. Sweep You was recorded from the old cut and paste method at my studio.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Cool Flowers, Lithics, Deja Blue, Conditioner Disco Group, WL, Lunch Lady, Meringue, Martha Stax, the House of Aura

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We have a culture of Portland bands forming cover bands around Halloween every year. I've done David Bowie, B52's, Siouxsie and the Banshees. I would like to do a Richard Hell cover band soon.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Keep writing and recording music. Hopefully people find it interesting. More electronics, less guitars this time around maybe?

Q: Any parting words?
Thanks for asking questions about the band.
