Q. When did Split Dream start? Tell us about the history...
Q: Who are your influences?
Q2. My main influences are The Sundays, Cocteau Twins, The Smiths and The Cure (of course)
Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Q3. Oh man this is a hard one. I’d have to say:
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
The Firs - Smoke Thin
Keaton Henson - Dear
Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation
José González - Veneer
(in no order)
Q. How do you feel playing live?
Q4. Playing live is a totally different world than recording by yourself. It’s very rewarding to see my songs go from my basement to the stage and to see how people react to them. I love both aspects, but in very different ways.
Q. How do you describe Split Dream sounds?
Q5. I would describe Split Dreams sound as relaxed and easy to listen to, but our live shows are high energy and exciting.
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Q6. The writing process for my songs usually starts out with a chord progression or guitar riff with some lyrics. I record the guitar to a click on my computer, then add a programmed drum beat to get a feel for how the groove will be, as well as a bass track. Then I add the vocal and lead guitar tracks along with recording acoustic drums or editing the programmed beat.
Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Q7. New bands I would recommend:
Good Morning
Day Wave
Linden Anthony
HORSEBOY
Spirit Club
The Japanese House
(and many more I can’t think of at the moment)
Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Q8. If I was to do a cover and make it similar to the original, it would 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins. But, if i were to totally change a song, it would have to be Breakfast in America by Supertramp. I would slow it down and make it a lot more dark.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
Q9. My plans are to keep making music that I enjoy. If it gets picked up and takes me somewhere, that would be really sweet, but I’m going to keep writing either way. It’s an itch that needs to be scratched.
Q: Any parting words?
Q10. Thank you for supporting my work and keeping underground music alive. It means the world to me.
