***** Interview with Kranesinlove *****

Q. When did Kranesinlove start? Tell us about the history...
1. Kranesinlove started in 2014.

Q: Who are your influences?
2. The idea of Kranesinlove was to being forth new ideas to a scene that I wish to someday be a part of; the Asian Shoegaze scene. I started the project in Summer of 2014 when I was planning a move to Singapore. I, at the time, was listening to Asian Shoegaze such as Elemental Gaze, Witherspoon, Oeil, Lemon’s Chair etc. The idea of blending electronic and Shoegaze has always been a fascination of mine.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
3. 1. Sigur Ros – Valtari
a. Skepticism – Stormcrowfleet
b. An Autumn for Crippled Children – Try not to destroy everything you love
c. Skepticism – Farmakon
d. Ride – Nowhere

Q. How do you feel playing live?
4. I’ve always wanted to have a Kranesinlove show. So, I’d be definitely open to it. However, the idea that most people in my area (New Hampshire, USA) aren’t well accustomed to my style, I feel it best to wait until I can find the right people.

Q. How do you describe Kranesinlove sounds?
5. Well, I always loved the ethereal soundscape of Slowdive, the subtle electronics of Sigur Ros’s “Valtari” and the bombastic nature of cinema score, so I took those elements and combined them to form Kranesinlove. I have another, more popular project, entitled “A Perfect Day” which is the same style, although geared towards the dark side of city life. Sort of like a yin-yang approach.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
6. Well, Kranesinlove is a project that had been on the backburner for quite some time. I hadn’t had much inspiration for it until now, when the debut LP “Singapore: Part One” comes out. As for the process, I usually write a midi piece on my keyboard so the electronics are laid out, then the drums, whether acoustic or electric, are placed, as well as the bass. Guitar and vocals are later added, if needed.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
7. My project, A Perfect Day, is always recommended for a mix of Post Black and electro shoegaze. As for bands that aren’t mine, City of Dawn, a solo artist from Texas is one that pops up. He is an ambient composer that I do admire, as well as the project, The Last Surrealist, wehich is a Depressive Black Metal project with a heavy dose of electronic and folk elements tied in so neatly.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
8. I would love to cover either really intense death/black metal songs, and make them completely different. I also would love to cover songs from a style known as Trap, that I really enjoy/.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
9. The Singapore trilogy for right now. I’m taking my time with them, and they will be worth the wait.

Q: Any parting words?
10. As always, thanks for the interview. I appreciate people finding my stuff intriguing.
