***** Interview with Lovebyrd ******
Q. When did Lovebyrd started, tell us about the history...
A. We don’t have much history. Each of us made experiences in music the last years. We started LOVEBYRD in springtime 2014.
Q. Who are your influences?
A. We like the music of The Beatles, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson Airplane, Tame Impala, The Byrds, Temples, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and many many more. In general nothing fancy as you see. It’s quite hard to say. We just love pop structures, shoegaze, psych and dreampop sounds.
Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
A. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are you Experienced?
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker,
The Beatles - Abbey Road,
Wolfmother - Self Titled,
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Q. How do you feel playing live?
A. We’re trying to find out what will work out best live for us. As we are just two people we will probably have some friends playing one or another instrument. But the stage thing is still in progress. We’re thinking about reducing the live band and sample a few things. We’ll see.
Q. How do you describe Lovebyrd sounds?
Psychedelic-Pop-Krauth. You tell us.
Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
We write the songs together, Mark and I. After the basic structure of a song has been made, we build up all the other instruments around that and make a rough mix. Then we take the premixed tapes to a friend of us. In his studio we work out all of the details and give everything the final touch. In the end it’s a threesome production.
Q. Which new bands do you recommended
We love Moodoid. A French band with pretty nice sounds and songs. Very creative. And on the other hand Allah-Las, even though they’re not that new anymore. Loving the Psych-Beach vibes. We could listen to their first record all day long.
Q: Which bands would you love to make a cover version of?
Difficult question because we’re really not into covering at all.
Q: What´s the plan for the future....
We are planning to release a 10-track vinyl in the springtime/summer and a video for an album track. But to manage the vinyl thing, we are still looking for a label that fits with us.
Q: Any parting words?
For the moment we’re just happy that there are some people who start liking our music. Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. Especially Dan from Ongakubaka Records, who found us in the deep space of the internet.
