Finetime with Meter Bridge - An Interview

***** Interview with Meter Bridge *****

A: Our influences are varied, ranging from classic ambient to experimental electronic and synthpop. We both love Brian Eno, David Sylvian and Cluster. Kraftwerk, New Order and the Orb have been massively inspirational as well as, David Bowie, The The, Roxy Music, Tears for Fears, Bjork and The Cocteau Twins. More recently we have gleaned influence from Hot chip, Phantogram, Purity Ring, LCD soundsystem, The Knife, Fever Ray and Caribou. We are also influenced by nature, fine art and architecture. Integral to our creative process is fashion, food and wine.

Q. How do you feel playing live?
A: We love playing live. Even though Meter Bridge has yet to play a live show, Richard and I have played together and really enjoyed it. We are currently getting our live show together and hope to tour the world. Can't wait for our first show sometime in 2015!

Q. How do you describe Meter Bridge´s sound?
A: Meter Bridge has a future retro sound with layered vocals, minimal synth and carefully chosen guitar dynamics.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
A: The bulk of the songs are done with Native Instruments transferred to Ableton and then we fill in all the keyboard, guitar, bass and vocal tracks.
We arrange, mix and produce each song until everything is balanced according to our liking, then we send it to D J Olive for mastering. Further tweaks in the mix are sometimes required to create the finished mastered product.

We want to do a version of "True Faith" (New Order), "And I was a boy from School" (Hot chip), and and a VU song called, "I'll be your mirror". We also would like to do a Fever Ray song and something off the Security album by Peter Gabriel.

Q: What´s the plan for the future....
A: We plan to play some live shows this coming year and release a full length album in the spring. We also would like to have a video made for the first single off the new album. A remix album of most of the tracks on our EP will be released in the early part of 2015.
